Picture request, race blue hatch with tinted windows

Featured Replies

Hi, as per the title really, just got a race blue vrs hatch and thinking about tinting the rear windows but I'm just a bit unsure of how it would look. If anyone has I'd appreciate some pics, thanks

thanks, gives me some ideas

Not a fan of tints myself. I guess they can work on certain black cars.

I'm seriously considering this myself. Can you update on prices please? I prefer the full tint as per bluevrs2's. What do you ask for to get that tint? Is there a technical name? 100% tint or something?

Thanks in advance.

Mine are lighter on the front compared to rear( the B pillars blend it in.) They are the maximum legal at front . They look lighter from the inside £130 for mine 2 years ago

The practical cheaper option (only if you have kids really) is to buy the Skoda rear & or side blinds for the car they really do darken the tint effect. Probably not what the OP wants to read but it works for me. Pics to follow if you want?

You can get tinted rears , including back window for that price anyway, so you save nothing

For £80? Where?

Thats mine, graduated from 35% on the front to 20% on the backs.

For £80? Where?

As I recall the blinds were £80 plus another £55 for the back one - plus fitting (unless you pop them in yourself, which probably isn't hard but needs a little drilling for the rear).

So if we say £60 labour then they'll be £195 fitted vs £160 I've just paid for tints (there were cheaper places but I went to a place used by a lot of dealers locally which cost a little extra)

The benefit of the blinds is they're still there when the windows are down. A benefit of tints is that they look better when close up. I also suspect they keep the car cool better and have better UV protection ( thinking about 15% here). I have nothing to back that up though.......

So six and half a dozen really - personally I chose the tints but can see both sides and the cost is very similar.

You could just get the sides I guess, would be cheaper, but the octavia has a huge rear window and you need that covered just as much as you need the sides done really!

£60 fitting, lol. 5min diy. The Vanstyle blinds are £80 all-in (sides + rear). Anyway, I digress, apologies.

I'm liking these. The higher the percentage the more light that gets through?

Reckon they will be close to that - was estimating dealer prices for genuine parts and pretty sure they screw you for the best part of an hours labour. In any case at £125 for the parts the labour only needs to hit £35 to equalise the prices whitch it easily will so the point stands.

Anyhoo the reason for posting is that someone has a set of the skoda ones for £50 on gumtree, thought I'd share it:

Yep exactly.

I'm in sunny North Devon and have had a quote of £204 inc VAT from these guys.

Thank you for contacting us.

The cost for the back five windows would be £170.00 + Vat. (£204.00) depending on the glass configuration.

You can have as dark a tint as you like behind the drivers seat, and the job will take about 4 - 5 hours to complete.

We would require the vehicle to be under cover in our workshop in Fremington, Barnstaple, Devon. This ensures a quality finish and you can choose the film darkness when you arrive. We can match this level of tint thats in your photos.

The film has a 10 year guarantee.

Payment by card or cash on collection.

Please let me know.

"depending on glass configuration."

Thats a new 1 on me lol, never heard that before!

Seems a bit pricey to me, i had mine done all round with suntek film for £140 inc vat.

Id shop around to be honest, get a few quotes & visit the premises if you can rather than over the phone or net.

A good tinter will have a portfolio of their work for you to see & if your lucky they will be tinting a car while your there.

i THINK THATS MY PERCENTAGE TOO

Also Tints give you smash and grab protection

Good stuff, I think I've driven past there a few times, is it on the hill on the way down through Baildon towards Shipley? (Not sure where one begins and the other ends)

Am thinking I might have to get tints to replace the blinds at some point anyway as Noah has started messing around with them!
