Been to price service at local main dealer so 40k major service and cambelt and water pump for 772.48

Sounds a bit OTT to me.

DB.

Think 479 for cambelt and water pump. Which match local vw garage for the same. So 290 for rest

Seems a bit pricey to me.

Get some quotes from some independents?

Expensive.

That's expensive, have a shop round for a VW specialist and you'd be looking at about £500 if that for service and cambelt/waterpump.

We do have a good Indy vw specialist near by but I can't go use them due to personal issues with one of the employees

I heard an ad on the radio this morning that Audi dealers here are doing "full kit cam belt change" (don't suppose that includes water pump) for 399 Euro. Possible Audi are doing a similiar deal on your side of the water.

When I had VW do my belt and water pump a couple of years ago they were doing similiar offer deals in the UK. Got to be worth the price of a phone call to find out.

That is expensive.

Not sure where you are in North Wales, but two suggestions.

We always use Brockley motors at Gwernaffield, near Mold. Family company. Always reliable and good free advice. Recommended.

Second, the VW garage in Chester just past Greyhound Retail Park has a sign up for what looks like a very good deal on cambelts.

I bought our Fabia from Mitchell Skoda and was ripped off at every service <50K after which I never went back - always extra work not covered by guarantee.

For that you could get it all done at Unit 18, book an hotel in Northampton and still have change IMO...
