Need solution for 2 issues.... please!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

When I start the engine in the morning, it feels faulty. Last sunday the car could not go further than 2000 RPM, but when I checked the motor cover the air hose was disconnected then it was fine, but I dont feel confortable with what happened. It's there something to check or change?

Also, Im desperate with the electric windows. The driver windows alwasy go down before it goes up (EVERY TIME). And the passenger windows its making an strange noise like it needs to be lubricated. Also the passeger control its wrecked, it can only open the window... if i want to close it I have to use the dirver control.

I would appreciate your wise advise.

If you need further info about the issues please let me know.

Thanks!

Adding and correcting the last post.

I connected the air hose after the engine issue. I ordererd a Vag-Com already, let me know if I have to wait for an accurate answer of the diagnostic.

Windows wise it sounds like the regulator has broken on the passenger side and possible a faulty switch.

Drivers side probably just wants cleaning and the one touch function resetting, this will also reset the roll back feature which is why the window is coming back down. Dirty rubbers make the window motor think something is trapped in it so it goes back down.

  • Has somebode gone throught the engine issue which I described in the first post? I really need help with this. I cannot trust anymore in independent garages.

A little more info might help, what air hose are you referring to?

Can you explain what is happening a little more? Is it still running badly during 'cold-start' in the morning? Has it been struggling to get above 2000rpm again? If so, is that only sometimes, or all the time? Is everything OK when the engine is fully warmed up?

Which air hose was disconnected, the one from engine-cover/airbox to the EGR valve, or the one from airbox to camcover? I can't see that either of those could have any effect on the engine running poorly.

Sorry for not givin more info.

It still running badly during cold start, only in the morning. The struggling to get above 2000rpm dissapeared, but im afraid it could come back. Both hose were disconnected (the one from engine-cover/airbox to the EGR valve, and the one from airbox to camcover), and im not saying thats the cause for the 2000rpm issue, but by that day, as soon as i connected both hose, the issue disappeared.

I think this might be happening due to the change of the spark plugs. The brand of those plugs is Bosch, so i supposed there shouldnt be any problem. I can try putting back the old one, to see if there's the problem.

Have you had a similar problem?

I haven't had a similar problem, I was just surprised that re-connecting one (or both) of those hoses could make much difference; the obvious experiment to try is to disconnect them when the engine is running OK, and see if any problems appear.

Does your coolant temperature gauge climb quite rapidly after start-up to about 90C and stay there?

It could be related to the sensor that this gauge uses, because the ECU uses the same one to make fuelling adjustments according to engine temperature. It is located on the plastic coolant housing at the gearbox end of the engine, a grey 2-pin connector I think.

I can find a graph of resistance versus temperature for this sensor, but it is quite awkward to get the probes of a multimeter onto the sensor pins as they are deep inside the housing.

I guess you're not seeing any warning lights indicating a logged fault, or you would have mentioned this?

I dont have any warning light flashing by now, but i could say that i have a coolant small leak, that only request the liquid when the car shows the water sensor light.

I dont know how fast should be the temperature climbing, but its kind of fast. That might be the reason of the faulty engine. I'll try to have a vag-com scan to see if there's something wrong and ill let you know.
