would it just be a 9n motor and a 9n arm and blade? or are other parts needed

And cutting & welding from what I read? Was a very old post though.

i couldnt seem to find it i searched but it appeared to be a bit vague with my results

9n wiper arm and wiper fits on to the fabia wiper motor stalk

Some elbow grease / wd40 / patience is usually needed to remove the original wiper arm. It gets well stuck on to the spline.

Yeah I did this on mine, tried everything getting that wiper off including leaving WD40 on overnight but still would not budge. So went to Machine Mart and got this: http://www.machinema...C-wiper removal

Came off in 5 seconds (wish I got that to start with!), just remember to leave the nut on slightly so it doesn't fly off!

I've been given one of those! I didn't think of leaving the nut on - when I tried it, it just kept breaking the plasitc around the internal wiper nozzle.

Before you use a wiper arm puller, Be sure to pull the plastic

jet nozzle out of the end of the centre of the rear assembly before

clamping the puller on. .

It will be crushed if you use a puller otherwise.

Replacement is £6 odd from skoda.

Go on... Ask me how I know...

I think there is some confusion here between front and rear wipers.

If the OP is referring to the rear wiper, it's simply the blade, arm and cap that you need.

as above, the rear Polo wiper fits with small amount of filing the cap down to size.

The fronts have to be cut and shut to fit properly

I've been thinking about changing mine to the Polo one to, I had a look on eBay and found http://bit.ly/OFfPVythis pretty cheap. Anyone had one off eBay?

Doubt it's a genuine part at that price. The 3 parts came in at around £26 from VW main dealer

when I bought mine. I had 2 Fabias for a while so have done this mod twice.

I fitted mine a couple of weeks back. All the parts came in at around £32 from VW.

Yeh I know it wouldn't be genuine but may be a cheaper alternative if it's decent quality.

I've lost count of the times I've said "it's not genuine but it's a steal". And not once can I back and say I'd do it again.

You buy cheap, you buy twice.

I can, genuine isn't always better.

I would imagine in this case genuine would have the edge though, but for a piece of metal it cant be that far off.

It's not the metal you want to worry about, it's the plastic.

True, but I take it the arml is the more expensive part from the dealer not the plastic.

The arm is prodiminantly made out of plastic, complete plastic outer shell. bit of metal internals (spring etc).

Fitted a golf/polo one to mine cheap one of flea bay does the job and looks the part do have to file the cap down a bit but it's been on for mouths no problems what so ever and the pastic doesn't look that cheap rather pay £13 then stealers price

was in halfrauds today, while car was in dealers

they now do the aero wipers to fit standard wiper arms

not sure what they are like, but may be a easier alternative to swapping the arms

you can get second hand genuine parts off ebay in very good condition that are as good as new for the fraction of the price mine was £15 for a genuine rear wiper arm

does the newer fabia wiper arms not fit? i tried to get one off a 57 plate but couldnt get it off :( then i left the nut and cap on my roof and drove off, idiot or what :(

If you want cheap head over to uk-polos and ask on there. They'll be a fair few guys that have de-wipered their rears and have ones knocking about
