Thule Bike Roof Rack

Featured Replies

Point me in the right direction please.

I'm after a Thule roof bar type bike rack. I have a Thule bike carrier which fixes to the bars from a previous car, so need the bars and mounts.

Browsing old posts doesn't specify part numbers/parts etc.

Can I just go to the Thule web site and order away, or is it not quite that simple

Cheers

It is that simple although you can pick up some right bargains on ebay especially when people advertise things as just fabia roof bars or octavia roof bars rather than the part numbers. That's how I got mine anyway!

Do you use yours for bike carrying?

I have the skoda bars and use them for carrying 2 bikes. Never let me down.

What, bars made by Skoda?

I have 2 thule bike carriers i dont use, in fact only used once. Let me know if you want photos

mk1 octy is 753 footpack and 3003 fitting kit, i believe fabia is same. Be careful with the 3003 as ive seen there is 2 types one for a peugeot, make sure you get a gen pic

Hi, sorry for jumping in, but do you a have price in mind for these carriers ? We've just had a trip to North Wales with two mountain bikes strapped to a carrier that mounted on the rear window/rear bumper.....I had to strap them down so hard that I thought I was going to put the glass in! Cheers.

Although I'm going to use roof bars to attach a mtb bike to, the rear mounted option seems better for the longer journey to me, BUT tow bar mounted, not the strapping method which quite frankly seems dangerous. For popping to local trails the roof mounted is good. Of course, the best option for the long journey is to put your bike inside the car :)

Hi, I'm on the same quest. From the THULE website there are several options, depending on the type of roof bar you want (square, aero, fairy dust etc). The two I've been looking for are....

  • Thule Rapid System 753
  • Thule WingBar 960
  • Kit 3003 Fixpoint XT

or

  • Thule Rapid System 753
  • Thule AeroBar 860
  • Kit 3003 Fixpoint XT

These are way too expensive for me to justify and even buying the individual components on ebay seems quite expensive (around £100).

The cheaper option that I've found is the THULE 4305 pack at £79.95 see link: http://www.roofbox.c...ehsel4.php?1066 ) which includes everything you need for an Octy mk1 but seems to have the bog standard square roof bars (ie not the quieter aero ones........as I only intend to use them with two mountain bikes strapped on I'm not too fussed about the aero-dynamic qualities of the roof bars!

Alternatively, the 'skoda' roof bars (made by THULE according to some threads I've read ??) that come up on ebay seem to go for around £30 to £40 but most sellers are saying 'collection only', so its a post code lottery.

Reference the Skoda bars, be aware that they seem to have made different packs for mk1s and mk2s!
