ccording to my insurance company it is not windscreen cover but general accident

Does your insurance explicitly say "windscreen cover", or "glass cover" like mine does?

I am very intrepid about my panny roof. According to my insurance company it is not windscreen cover but general accident so if it goes it is an insurance claim so no claim bonus under threat. I am careful where I park away from overhanging trees and away from adjacent skip lorries. It is fixed and not tilt and slide like some and I have enjoyed 8 years of incident free motoring

Nothing dropped on mine, it is a stress fracture, identical to those suffered on VW cars, particularly Golf GTI. Is your NCB under threat because you  have made another claim. I always ask for NCB protection.

No previous claim. I have NCB protection

Specifically says that it is general accident cover - not windscreen cover

Don't get fixated with protected no claims cover as they do let you keep the discount but simply just up the premium to compensate.

Not sure what that means.

The point about mine is that "glass cover" refers to all cabin glazing, even the sunroof.

You are right Glass/repair replacement is covered. Sorry for misinformation

I got the same issue, spot a crack this morning, it might be from cold weather.
The question is if this can be fixed by something like using some adhesive or polymer or epoxy?
Replacing it right now I do not think its a good idea since its cold weather in here.
Another thing is, this can cause leaking or any issue, it might just a visual crack?

Salut @Andrei_Spataru

I have a same crack as @Redboy has. I have a same model from 2016. Did you bring it to Skoda service? I learn like it will cost somewhere around 3000 lei.
But I am also thinking to use black silicon for a while to just avoid rain. Did you repair it?

For @candasmand @Andrei_Spataruthe dealer stated they weren’t aware of any similar cases and needed to inspect the car on a ramp (probably to check if I had hit a pothole or something which had caused the split in the roof) No visible cause or reason was found other than it just split. So it was repaired at an approved bodyshop under warranty because the car was under 2 years old.  Check out US VW Golf Mk7 website and there are a lot of pictures of similar cracks on Golf GTI on each side of the front edge. The crack shouldn’t leak into the car as the water should drain into the channels eventually, provided the drains are clear. It looks worse than it is. The affected area is a plastic cover. The glass sunroof itself was not damaged and closed/opened without a problem but it looks bad. You could try sealant but I think it’s a stress crack which will open up again. I think it’s about £1000. It’s not an uncommon fault despite what dealers may say. Good luck sorting it out as Skoda in the UK at least, don’t always pay up with cars out of warranty even for a well-known problem.

@candasm I haven't checked with Skoda service. Talk with a mechanic that I know personally and he said this can be fixed with some adhesive and polished but during summer when everything is dry. Nothing to worry about the crack since underneath is the draining spaces. Its been a while and I haven't seen any leaking issues. All in all is just a "cosmetic" problem.

Have you thought about getting it wrapped?

Does it helps to avoid cracks? I was thinking to wrap it after change with a new one but only for avoid scratches.

It wouldn’t prevent, but if someone wanted to fix on the cheap filling the crack and wrapping it would be ideal

Unlucky, I hope you get it fixed under warranty for free or cheaply.

Autollani ajettu 35.000 km. Usean Skodan omistajana tunne mainekuvan horjumisesta on päällimmäisenä.

The glass frames of my car's panoramic roof exploded while driving on a freeway. Skoda and importer want to get rid of product liability! Now it was lucky to have a windshield coming behind him shattered as glass parts flowed from my car. I understand that the car manufacturer is bound by the Product Liability Act and I have thought of using a lawyer to take up the compensation case. I am amazed by Skoda's indifference to accountability issues when this clearly structural problem. The car is serviced in Skoda branding maintenance and the roof structure is inspected in accordance with a maintenance report. My car was driven 35,000 miles. As the owner of several Skodas, the feeling of faltering the reputational image is top of mind.

I think this problem is not linked to similar cracked sunroof surrounds.  Essentially once Skoda have sold you the car, it's a long long process to get help even with intervention of Skoda UK. I gave up even with a 2 yr warranty extension and sold my Superb. Life's too short.
