Boot lid won't unlock

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2001 Octavia Elegance 1.9tdi hatchback and recently I can't get into the boot, I have read that a few people on here have had problems however mine seems to be a little different as I cannot hear any noise coming from the motor when either pressing the lock/unlock buttons on the remote or when I turn the key in the boot itself.

I have managed to get the boot lid open by climbing into the boot and flicking the catch behind the plastic trim and took a photo of the lock which I have attached, what I am wondering is whether anyone has any idea of which part maybe faulty or whether its best just to change the whole lot?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Sounds like the boot lock actuator. Same thing happend on my Mk2. I replaced the whole unit. I'm a complete luddite so can say with confidence it's an easy job :)
