Sounds like you've got a bit of a dog there I'm afraid. I know the Fabia model doesn't seem to be aswell screwed together as the more desireable models in the Skoda range but the issues youe are experiencing are not acceptable. Can you not reject the car??

Well, my dealer says they'll fix every problem I have and guarantee the repairs. Most of my niggles are cosmetic and the car still runs fine so I'd be happy if I could just get them sorted. Everyone has assured me that the gearbox vibration will dissipate.

Handing it back would be a bit more difficult now that part of the paintwork is missing!

How much do you reckon for a professional respray or touch up, or even my dealer?

Just can't believe it! :(

I've had mine 5 weeks now (3000 miles and counting...) and I've had a large number of niggly problems. The dealer has been very friendly about it (as he should be!) but not all the problems are cured yet. Hopefully will all be sorted after one more trip.

I've had:

1) Rattle from headlight switch - now cured.

2) Xenon aim too low. - diagnosed as ok.

3) Xenon flicker - still needs sorting.

4) Rattle from rear of car - cured.

5) Rattle from handbrake suround/centre console - to be fixed...

6) Dashboard end panel cracked - dealer "forgot" to order one last time I took it in, so need to make another trip...

7) Central locking re-code. Done.

8) Drivers door rattle - to be sorted (parts ordered).

9) Passenger door pull loose - parts ordered.

And now, to add to the list the handbrake cover is loose, and the drivers seat is creeking like a good un. :finger:

So all in all, its not living up to the great "build quality" reputation, which is more than disappointing as this was a large influence in my choice of car. Still over the moon with the car in every other sense, just would be nice to travel in peace!

The dealer realises that I'm quite p155ed off about it all, and *wait for it* has given me a free excess waiver on my next courtesey car. Wow

If it doesn't get sorted next trip to the dealer, I'll be changing dealer and/or rejecting the car. :finger:

Try 'Chipsaway' or similar. Should be able to sort you out for

I agree! At the end of the day mate,

Hate to sound negative, but some cars are just lemons. I had one (an Astra) and despite spending 3.5 months out of a total of the 6 months i owned it back at the dealer it was never fixed properly.

My first Fabia VRs had problems and the dealers were totally rude, unhelpful and useless. (Well done Horners Manchester...NOT). I rejected it and the replacement has been great.

Reject it, you may well save yourself a lot of hassle in the long run. Would advise contacting your local Citizens Advice Bureau.

Good luck

How exactly do you go about rejecting a car? Are there any criteria that need to be met, and are there any time limits imposed?

How does the dealer respond, and who fits the bill for the new car? How long does the process take if successful?

I'm not considering this yet, but if more problems arise in the near future I may have no choice. Will see if the dealer lives up to their Repair promises.

Someone please can you re-assure me... Ive just forked out 11k for my new furby!!! Its arriving in two weeks time... People, lets hear some good, reliable stories... I'd rather be blissfully unaware of the potential problems

Ps If i were the one to have so many probs id be at the citizens advice bureau with a detailed account of the problems - the dealer cant not act then - bad press and all...

Cheers

Cal

Dont worry this is the ONLY case I have heard of all these problems, their cracking cars, you will be pleased

There is some official DTI advice here.

I#m not really considering rejecting the car! Its just minor irritations really. Each on their own would be a "fix it while its booked in for a service job", but the accumulation of all these things is nothing short of seriously aggrevating! I'm dead chuffed with the car in all other respects - performance, economy (Averaged 43ish so far, and thats awesome considering how its driven!)

I just hope the dealer can solve all the remaining niggles without too much agro for me! i.e only onemore trip please Vindis!

I agree with Walkie, they're excelent cars. My main concern was the gearbox vibration which IS fading as the miles pile on. My annoyance comes from the sheer number of problems I've had in the first few weeks of ownership.

At the end of the day, the car still puts a big smile on my face and It's not too taxing on the pocket either. Don't be too disconcerted. Look at the number of people on this site that have a vRS vs the number reporting problems.

Can your gearbox vibration be cured by the application of the cable fix? We've had one of the cars done and I think I'll be booking the other in soon.

My Dealer proclaims: "As it's a known vRS issue we have been advised by VW that each individual car should be run in for at least 2000 miles before a fix can be implemented, if necessary at that point in time".

Now that sounds to me like VW saying: Well lets see how many people forget about it and don't bother coming back, rather than doing the fix straight away.

I don't know what the cable fix entails so I have no idea. What were the problems the other cars had? Walkies' (James') car had a similar problem but that faded over time too. I'm a bit worried that something is being damaged in that time however??

We took ours to the dealer and got a similar tale - it'll go away. Well the answer they got back was I didn't just spend best part of 13k to see if gets better - fix it. Much better now. Do a search on here and you can get the part numbers to give them.

It's a modified set of gear change cable AFAIK.

I think the reason they don't like to do it is it takes time, they have to get under the centre console.

Just got home from an excellent night out at my local comedy club!

Put my car into reverse to park in my drive and I hear this very loud gearbox knocking. Take it out of gear, put it back in and this time it's louder. Drive the car forward. Switch of the engine and try again. Select reverse again and back comes the noise, even louder and more of a grinding. After 45 minutes of arsing around I have left it on the street and decided to quit. The noise is now present ever time I select reverse.

Have just finished writing an email to my dealer and Skoda UK - I'm rejecting the car!

I've had a total of 15 problems since I got my new vRS. It's done just over 1400 miles. Shame. I'm not even angry anymore. :(

Will let you know how it goes. Those of you who

If there is a fix for this problem, does that mean that all new fabia vRS's from now on should not have this problem?

I got mine just over a week ago, done 500 miles so far without any problems, bit of vibration in the gearbox but nothing i would be concerned about. Sorry to hear about some of the troubles people have been having but can i just say

Mines Perfect :D

This has got a lot worse since my last post. Now the left side grey bit and the Black seat are both rubbing up. Taken it back to the dealer who says "pilling" is a known problem and is ordering replacement.

Watch out for this on new cars. It can only be seen clearly in daylight, not very visable in un-natual light

Hey Dudes, I need help!

I've been back and fourth to the dealers about six times now and they have ordered parts for my car. I've had to delay handing the car in because they've been unable to secure me a courtesy car. I'm really getting tired of this. I've listed all of the problems I've had again below and the dealer

CJP

Really sorry to hear about the problems you have, I wouldnt have been as patient as you have, And I am inclined to agree with most posts, Reject it.

Dont be put off by the dealer.

You can always do what was posted here as a joke - Stand in the dealers showroom when there are customers around shouting " Pinch my Nipples , Pinch my Nipples" if you get asked why your shouting it reply " I like my nipples being pinched while i'm being screwed " ;):)

Good luck

Trading standards say anything you buy has to be fit for its purpsoe. If not you are enttled to a full refund plus any reasonable costs incured.

Contact your local trading standards NOW, and tell the dealer you're doing it.

  • Author

So here's my dilemma. Replacement or refund? If I did get a refund I'd be left with no car, and I can

one-off Lemon, the list of things that have happened to your car is pretty poor.

BUT, its the first case I've heard of all those problems, with probably what is nearing to 200 Fabia vRS owners on this site...

Give it another shot
