My New Fabia vRS is Falling Apart!

Featured Replies

I think you've had a right lemon mate. :(

Besides the gearbox issue, I think the other problems on there own wouldn't be all that bad, but like mine, the sheer number of problems is the issue.

I'd just opt for a new one. I think you could be the first person to reject one. There are many extremely happy owners out there...

So here's my dilema. Replacement or refund? If I did get a refund I'd be left with no car' date=' and I can think of any other car on the market that fufils what the vRS does, without going into silly money, obviously!

Do you think my car was a one-off Lemon or am I just risking disaster getting a new one?

 [/quote']

Hi

I reckon you're right about it being hard to get another car that does what the vRS does for the price, I looked hard and couldn't find one.

Mine has done nearly 800 miles now and not a single teething problem. There seem to be many other satisfied customers. I'd guess from the views here and customer satifaction surveys, that you've been unlucky.

I hope that you get a satisfactory resolution.

Brian Jones

Just to reiterate. Mine is a 2005 model. Done 8000 miles. Only problem is the rattle from the light cluster and a miner dash rattle from the far left side. Dealer will sort them at 10k service. This car is better built than many I have owned and as for the fun factor... :) :)

4800 miles and 8 months on,nothing wrong.Zippo,zilch,nowt.

It's been great! (topped up with a smidgin of oil but thats it!)

I think you get the gist from most people. You have been unlucky but you should really be far harder with the dealer. The longer you leave it the harder it is to reject and you get to a point where you will be deemed to have accepted it.

Dont dally any longer and good luck!

I agree with the above! I've had mine 6 days now, done 900 miles, and no faults at all! I've checked the oild as everyone says the loose some, but thats fine too... I'm very happy so far...

Definitely hope they'll consider swapping it out for an equivalent spec model. You deserve it based on the amount of grief you've had with this one.

And the award for most impressive dealer I've ever encountered goes to Graeme P. Chatham Skoda in Edinburgh.

These guys are by far the most accommodating, friendly and helpful car dealers I've ever met.

I sent them a Rejection letter for my vRS on Tuesday and I now have a cheque for the full amount back from them. They even offered me the car until tomorrow so I didn't have to get the bus back. They were thoroughly apologetic and made me a coffee while I waited for the Sales Manager.

So, now I'm back to square one...What car? I'd really like to just re-order a new vRS but I'm too scared to take the chance again.

I've considered a few cars, such as the CTR, MKV Golf, SH Scooby and the New Polo. Trouble is I just don't know!

Anyone looking to buy a Momo Strut Brace and 160 Air Intake give me a buzz. Only been on the car for a couple of hundred miles!

I'll have the 160 air intake! PM me a price, And I'll send you a cheque! BUT before that, may I suggest you do try another vRS?! remember Skoda came second in the last JD power survey (second only to lexus) and I've had mine two weeks now, done 1600 miles in that time, had learners driving it, and absolutely nothing has gone wrong! I couldn't be happier... I suggest you may have had a "friday afternoon" car.....

anyway, if you do decide to leave it, I will buy you 160 intake ;)

sharky.

Dare I suggest it based on the trouble you've had but try another one.

Yours was obviously a lemon.

Kudos to your dealer, whom you're rightly mentioned ;) - they've done their best to keep you as happy as possible considering what happened.

I am looking for a hot hatch. The whole point of getting the vRS was the frugal and torquey nature of the diesel combined with the remapping potential. For those of you with remapped Furbys, how does the performance compare to petrol hot hatches? I can

Eibachs

EBC Pads and Discs, and new Brake fluid (well done Walkie!)

Remap (probably Jabba, anyone know a place near Edinburgh?)

17" Octavia vRS alloys (Walkie again!)

Green Cotton Filter (sold my unused one to a mate)

Air Intake (got)

Strut Brace (got)

Windows (as dark as I can)

Anything I've missed?

The worst part is, I

 - could buy ex-demo perhaps?

If you look under the Jabba section the VDub place in Motherwell area do Jabba sport remaps,

I have a Star Performance switchable remap. I'm happy with it. It makes a huge difference. They are just over in Fife near Dysart. They also give good advice on further mods. Brian the son has a hybrid turbo remapped job that gets better all the time.

StarPerformance has a forum here, why not check it out, see what you can get ;)

Must admit as you have pretty big plans you may well be better off getting a few quotes. The amount of changes you have in mind could get you a discount perhaps, and also they may be able to advise you on how to get a 'cheap' starting vehicle for this.

Are you after any particular options?

Drove a MkV Golf today and the Civic Type R.

The golf was slow and definitely not worth the money.

The CTR was manic! If you've ever driven one then you'll know what I'm talking about! It's amazing over 6000rpm.

Both are a lot more expensive than the vRS and I just couldn't justify the cost! I'm pretty sure a remapped Furby would be quicker than the CTR anyway!

Anyone driven the Ibiza Cupra?

The CTR will probably feel a lot faster and be more involved. Must admit I'd like a spin in a remapped Furby one day ;)

You wanna talk to Xav or Jason ;) They also specialise in rolls and flips :D

Ok, I hand my vRS back tomorrow and as it was my last day in the thing I decided to relent and give my mate a shot, as he's been bugging me for a go for weeks!

Coming up the A68 towards Edinburgh he get's caught by the speedcops in a Volvo T5. I didn't see them behind us so I don't know where they came from!

Let's just say he's in a spot of bother...96.8mph in a 60mph zone!

Luckily I hadn't remapped the thing and he's got a clean license!

Any idea what he's likely to get?

OH JESUS!!

That Furby is cursed!

~ Compulsory appearance in court (over 36mph in excess)

~ 5/6 points

If it was remapped, he'd have been going faster!

Yes, he was a named driver. Although the police did not read him his rights or ask for proof of documentation!

No more than six points?

But wasn't he just 'testing the vehicle' ??? I think that's OK to do judging by last weeks news about the copper.

derek
