Will this fit? Horribly technical drawing inside!

Featured Replies

So peoples,

Do we think this front strut will fit on a vRS? Rebound specs aside etc, I'm just wondering if the dimensions/arb drop link mounts are right.

Any thoughts?

Nathan

If I hadn't hurt my back id go out and measure one of my coil overs I have in the boot lol

Apparently that's for a 4x4 Octavia 1.8T, Audi 1.8T Quattro or a Golf V6 4motion?! I didn't think any of those cars had the same ARB needing those drop-link mounts on the diagram.

A 4x4 octavia has a totally diff strut to the audi tt quattro i think. The tt one is shorter slightly same as the s3 r32 and lcr.

The 4x4 octy is higher than a vrs too.

The 4x4 octy is higher than a vrs too.

that's the only difference

drop link attachment is the same

iirc the rears would technically fit too (?)

The Golf 4mo's (whatever engine) have the older droplink fitment

Octavia 4x4 is same as R32/TT/S3

HTH

I was under the impre that the struts are slightly shorter as the cars are lower.

The strut assembly is longer on the Octy, they make the assembly longer by lengthing the springs and shock absorber shaft length, but same fitments, droplinks, etc

So stupid question...will that fit and more importantly work, on the vRS do we think?

Sorry, but you'd be a muppet to put Octavia 4x4 suspension on a vRS

I suspect the results would end up in a ditch tbh

A simple answer is yes.

As the way it fit's is the same, It has the same drop link attachment bracket in the diagram as required by a VRS.

Wheather it could have the correct rebound/damping can't answer but you state put that aside, so yes it will fit.

Why you want to fit it over a known proper VRS strut is another question...

If want to raise your car higher of the ground, fit spring spacers

SpringSpacers.jpg

lol, thats what I was saying, why fit something that is gonna raise the car up?

the 4x4 octy is higher ride hight than the vRS and I think the vRS is a tad higher than the LCR,R32,S3 and TT too? is it not, hence the hub assembly on them cars having that extra section for the BJ so it pushes the wishbone down to the right angle when lowering the car?

hope that makes some sence.

Thanks for the advice guys, I was just after opinions as I'm not yet aware of the technical differences between the various models. Any of course, if the struts are longer and not the correct damping then they won't be going on. I was just after clarification from you guys, as Monroe said these would fit and were the correct ones, but again on the advice of this forum I decided not to trust their opinion.

Thanks again :)

Nath.

... Monroe said these would fit ...

 dude, you should have said from the start

Yes yes, I know

I think a trip to the Skoda Dealer may be in order tomorrow. I think my wallet just shuddered!

Oh and as for ending up in a ditch, those shocks couldn't have made things any worse, trust me!

You will be in for a shock if you buy from Main dealer

I not sure that many places offer a VRS strut as a lot try to sell the monroe equivalent which is not correct as mentioned.

Have you tried GSF car parts, or Euro Car Part for struts. They will take your reg id and check...And a lot cheaper than Skoda

Its cheaper going to coilovers lol. Even weitecs are cheaper than getting std stuff.
