When i say spigot i mean the part that sticks out that goes into the rim that after market wheels use rings for. If that makes sence?

With my 5mm ones on and std bolts the bolts are flush with the back of the hub flange so with 8mm onea you will only have 2 else 3 threads in it which is not enough.

Need longer bolts really. Dont think its the spacers fault. Should come with bolts to match tho imo.

Hope marks car is ok! N you get something sorted with Creation clive.

  • managed to get a few more bits done to day! took of the inlet manifold and swapped injectors to the bam fuel rail stripped the wiring for the throttle body, inlet temp sensor, and map sensor and pull

  • Bam inlet now on!!!! I will do more but I'm going To the shop now to get a beer!!

Their 10mm and above spacers do come with bolts

But yes, the 8mm require longer bolts too

Mine where cut to fit long bolts

I now have separate wheel bolts for each set of wheels (that's 100 wheel bolts + several sets of locking wheel nuts :giggle: )

What. I got their 5mm ones and had no trouble other than the wobble.

Cant really see that but whats wrong?

Was he using longer bolts or still the std ones? How did he find out?

Hope they sort it. Least its not one of your items tho.

Hi Billy

In the first pic you can see a crack on the spacer front locating flange

on the second pic the flange has completly sheared off.

I only found out when I removed wheels to replace FARB bushes. Only had them on for 2 weeks, although was getting some vibration

The spacer flanges are very thin and I would guess due to braking and torque of the accerating put force on them. The actual flange on the hub that goes inside the spacers were probably causing this on the inferior metal. They are very light alloy and not up to the job, simple as that really.

this is why i think the way forward is bolt on 20mm beasties :)

I think that as the spacer are wider on the 20mm the actual flange comes out well away from the hub flange so could be some truth that. Although still feel the CM ones are inferior metal compound.

That's a CM one isn't it ?

Yes it is buddy.

so has the wheel come off then and the disk is on the floor?

take it your on about the shiny ring? or has the spigot broken too?

No wheel did not come off, bolts were tight,. No buddy shinny thing is the spacer and Disk is behind the spacer still on the hub lol.

Billy yep I am ok and car is ok. No damage luckily and car without spacers. Although a little higher now as without spacers I can't run so low . Std wheels hit the KW platforms when low.

It is the spacers fault Billy, the bolts I had were long enough and tight. If you see where the damage happened you can see the metal material is very thin.

Clive has the offending spacers back now and has contacted CM.

Yeah you can clearly see its poor machining that has caused failure and I will be getting a full refund and will make some from scratch !!

I had 2 sets of eibach spacers do that to me.

Wow that pic is better mark.

Erm so that meens new flanges for you then?

Even more reason ill not be getting spacers.

What about trying to get some stud conversions?

I got them clive might be able to help there. They got longer pins so there shouldnt be any movement as everything is in fully.

Ide say you were lcky mate as the threads would only of been in a few mm so couldnt take the stress. Even tho they were tight. Hard to explain.

Flange in hubs are ok Billy no damage to them still intact. The only damage was the spacers buddy. You can see in the second pic that the std hub flange is still there and the spacer flange just snapped off at the end of where the hub flange is.

options are:

1. get better stronger spacers, Clive is helping

2. get wider spacers that have longer bolts and stronger hubcentric fitting flanges(as don't think 5-8mm spacers will ever be strong enough?)

3. get 18 inch wheels with better offset (looking at black TD pro race 1.2's again)

4. leave as is but accept can't lower car any more

If I get 20mm spacers with std 17" spiders they will hit the arches

Where are the spacers from dude? I've just ordered some 20mm hubcentric ones for the front of the bm. Hope there not the same as these!

A bit of camber will help with this ;)

Im planning on 20mm bolt ons with my spiders :D

Sod it lol

Paid £43 for my pair off ebay ;)

Thats a bargin:)

A bit of camber will help with this ;)

Already have that, well on front as have the R32 wishones and hubs and set camber to a 2WD Audi TT

And a slight camber on rear as car is low.

Sod it lol

go for it but i think mine will hit as car is low, I may chance it?

They are on my list :D

As is a set of 3sdm 0.05s lol

More wheels for the spare room :D

Im just not sure if 225/45/17 or 205/50/17 would be best if the spiders are out 20mm
