If you couldn't have a Skoda what would you have?

Featured Replies

Brand new car wise, there's nothing I want more than the RS3, such an unnecessary car - fantastic!

Oh yes, very nice. Dropped my Superb at the bodyshop yesterday and saw a lovely dark blue RS3 parked up, looking fantastic.

However, too small for my requirements so I'd have to go RS4 or RS6 I'm afraid.

I'd be looking at a used GTR or a GT86

OP stated

BRAND NEW UNDER £50,000!!

No RS Audi under that, or Aston or Porcshe either!

Mine would be a GT86, every time I drive one at work I want one.

Just a question mate.

Judging by your posts you've obviously got a few quid so.... Why did you get a yeti?

Not knocking the yeti but why not a Q5 or something?

Because the Yeti 170 CR 4x4 Elegance is the best all round car there is for my requirements.

3 series coupe with a 6 pot diesel or petrol if I wasn't doing too much.

Fair enough!

+1 (well, for my requirements, that it - can't comment on Richard's!)

In the cup holder of an RS4........ i mean

A BMW M550 D X drive touring, thanks very much!

Sorry if my post came across as a bit direct.

To elaborate a little, a good car that has a broad range of abilities (like 4x4, some ground clearence, higher driving position, good power and torque, xenons, electric memory seat etc...) but is not flash. It needs to be nice, but not bling. So when you turn up to a meeting to justify a price increase they don't think it's to pay for a flash car.

I had a nice Range Rover before, but I didn't use it's extreme off road ability or 3.5t towing capacity. And it drew too much attention in the above scenario.

The Yeti can do everything that did at a far lower price, with far lower depreciation and running costs and is far more subtle, in comparison all it lacked was the heated steering wheel, parking heater and TV. But it actually fits in a parking space, which is another consideration when you use it every day.

Audis really suffer with spec isssues. So many things are standard on Elegance Yetis that are options on a more expenssive Audi. A Q5 has the wrong badge for me to use every day and specced the same would cost far more. So I can't justify it.

Turned out the Yeti also has great handing and you can really hussle it along. On the briskoda track day it really performed better than probably anyone was expecting. It genuinely is fun to drive. A great all round package and far better value than any of the flash brands. :)

I am very impressed having now done 10,000 miles in it since I collected it on the 1st March. If I had to change I would buy another. We now have three in the family.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

BMW 530d, or even better, an Alpina D5 - 535 lb ft of torque and still 55 MPG

If anyone could find one a New Nissan Prairie, mine lasted 21 years and 180,000 and NEVER broke down or went wrong.

Failing that a Mazda CX5

SAAB 9-5 2.0T if I could still get a new one, or an Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2.0 JTDM-2. I like something a wee bit different, but I can't justify having a super-expensive luxury car, sporty cars wouldn't really be practical for me. Yes, I know, boring :giggle:

Honest question, how is a TT-S better than a TT-RS when it has less cylinders and less powers?

Because in everyday usage, the S has enough power and handling, the RS is just alittle too focused. But some people like that.

out of the 2 if i had to do a long journey it would be the "S" that i would take. i have driven both back to back over 250miles in each on the same day, so for me it would be the S.

Mint condition E30 325i in silver. My brother had one almost exactly as below. Simple, honest and well made. Lovely car.

You can keep your M3 for the same reasons listed above regarding the TT-S and TT-RS. Besides the M3 body kit looks like Kryton from Red Dwarf.

Audi A5 3.0TDI

A BMW M550 D X drive touring, thanks very much!

Suppose I could live with one of those too, if you could get an Xdrive on the normal cars in the UK.

I would opt for a Jag XF diesel. Just for the gear selector to rise from the console :)

My mate has an E30 "M" this has to be the best BMW ever, good lines and simplistic. Great car.

As for what car I would have it would probably be A6 3.0TDi Quattro Avant, I had one as a courtesy car when I had the A4.

I had one just like that but white, you've opened a wound :heartbreak:

That's exactly what I want too! Just got a polo to sell first!

Honestly I would have had a Seat Ibiza TFSI before the Octy if I'd had a dealer closer by. Probably a bit of luck there really since the boot on the octy has been a great help on many occasions. Also seriously looked at Mazda 6's just before the Octy won out.

With a £50k budget. I wouldn't have one car any more and I'd get nearly new. But I think I'd have an A6 Avant Quattro diesel 3.0 and a used Toyota HiLux and use the change to get a motorbike or a Caterham.
