Impressed by a Lupo GTi

Featured Replies

I was driving round Milton Keynes today and at a roundabout looked in my rear-view mirror to see a Lupo Gti up my **** so thought I'd have a bit of fun with him. When we exited the roundabout he started to push it so I put foot to floor and we were off, but to my suprise he wasn't going anywhere, up comes another roundabout and we both pass over and go again I got a bit on him but not much, we were both going for it and I wasn't pulling away, but the good thing was that he never caught me.

All in all quite impressed by the little thing and my first real challenge I've had since I've had the car and I'm just as happy with my choice, would like a bit more power though.

There nippy little buggers, I almost bought one, but couldnt live with the boot space...

However I drove one again last weekend, and they feel a lot slower than the Furby...

Give us a flash if you see me in MK

The newer model gets to 60 from a rest in a little more than 8secs, 125bhp in a dogem do make them pretty rapid!

Theres a red one near my parents and it looks cool, they are hugh money though for such a small car, very rare over here.

They are just as quick as the Furby, but the reason they dont feel it is because they dont have the torque, so flat out there wouldnt be much difference, but ingear the Furby would clean up...

I almost got one too, but didnt feel they were for me.

So its time to get the little rocket chipped then :)

Brother used to have one....do not take one on in a furby unless it is chipped. To be fair though the furby is a warm hatch and we are comparing it to a pocket hot one.

Chipped furby will have it but not by a country mile though.

Yes, very nice little motors. As said previously though, very pricey for the size of them. Why doesn't Skoda have access to this chassis? :)

Quite a decent power-to-weight ratio - 60 comes up in about 7 doesn't it?

Well the point of the subject was that I did take one on and had him but was impressed that he stayed with me most of the way, anyway once I save up I think I'll be chipping my baby and I'm sure the Lupo won't be close anymore. I do like the Lupo's but for the money coz they're VW they come with a price tag to match unfortunately, I'd still have mine over one though.

If I see you around Walkie I'll give you a flash but as of yet have never seen you.

I had a good pop at one at croft and the power was similar but the handling was a lot better on the Lupo, but the prat couldn't stick to track etiquette to save his life !!

Having a fabia vRS in the family I don't like to say this but....I would expect the lupo to give the fabia a rather hard time. It's a well sorted little car.Confess I have never seen one on the road though. They must be pretty rare!

I've only seen one or two. Do Seat offer a sports version of the Arosa?

Off the line I would expect the Lupo to beat the vRS, but midrange I'd be fairly confident of beating one.

Steve

The Lupo aint all that quick... like you say, off the line they'd probably win out, but in the midrange, the Fabia would easily match it, and some... For one thing, I know the Lupo GTI is not as quick as a Saxo VTS.

As for handling, well I followed one once who was clearly trying to lose me on the bends, and not only did they fail to do this, but the car appeared to suffer from even more bodyroll than the Furby.

As for the Arosa, they did a 16v Sport, which was 100 bhp, and were going to do a Cupra, but it was binned.
