2 weeks into ownership of our Citigo and it's broke.

The adjuster/lever for the passenger seat back has a large crack right across the internal boss so it doesn't grip the shaft, which is the driving part for the mechanism to fold and adjust the position of the back.

We have to use the lever on the other side of the seat for now

The first symptom was the lever going too far forward, marking the moulding on the seat base, followed by it being wobbly and coming away from the seat base.

Anyway, a trip to Palmers Watford and a warranty claim is going in.

Was this on a 3 door model seat/

Mick

:'( to hear she's 'in the wars early doors' hope the dealer can sort out the issue quickly and that it doesn't happen again

Regards,

TP

I hope this is not a symptom of a wider problem with the 3 door model.

I was surprised that (in order to get people in the back) i had to tip the seat forward AND slide it forward too - thus ruining the seating position of the person in the front. I've not had a 3 door car for a long while, it used to be possible to get the seat to return to it's original position, but i can't find out how to do it in the Citigo.

MickA, yes, 3 door.

Tim, we have quite a good relationship with the dealer so I'm sure it will turn out right.

BTW, can you shed any light on below, parts wise?

I might be able to work it out from that. I find it very awkward to get down That low ATM.

MikeW, I was also surprised that the seat doesn't return to set position but I'm not sure if we are not missing something?

There are 3 positions for the lever. In the forward and rearward positions the lever locks in place so I was expecting something different to happen other that just the seat back and seat moving forward.

I've had a look in the manual but no clues there. I'm sort of not surprised, having looked at the fuse diagram for the yeti and finding it bears no relation to how they are actually laid out 8-/

I thought the quick release system advertised in the brochure was just such a system, so the seat snapped back into the same location afterwards

So it doesn't work like that?

Not that I have been able to figure out, Richard, but it may have been the broken lever stopping it working.

I'll try the other seat when I get the chance.

In the brochure the cheaper models don't have this "quick release" for the 3 door, but your Elegance does. Just for info.

Will have a check on our showroom one cfb and post back.

Thanks, have fun ;)

Just had a play around and the quickest answer is that, no the seat doesn't go back in to the original position.

From what I can make out, having not toyed with an S spec yet, is that the quick release system is the lever that releases both the base of the seat to slide forward and the backrest, whereas without the system (only a guess) it would just be the backrest that tilts forward and you would then have to release the base to slide forward as well.

They actually bill this as 'easy entry'! I would hate to see how someone gets into the back of an 'S' trim.

I mean come on, it's not in any way, shape or form 'easy-entry' and to give it this name makes it sound like something revolutionary. A 15 year old Citreon has a better way of accessing the rear seats than the up/citigo/mii, whereby the whole seat base pivots up and over, returning to the original position afterwards.

Update...

Skoda approved the warranty claim and a new lever has been fitted.

It now works as it should.

I mentioned above that the lever went all the way forward and backwards, well that was coz it was broken!

Now it works proper like, the lever only moves back a short way and the seat releases.

:) :)

If it helps either does the fiat 500 have a return to position function. Unless you add it as an option.

It's fine. We've got used to it now. :)

Good that it's fixed, bit worrying that it happened in the first place though - did they say it was a bad batch?

No, but, looking at it, there appeared to be a flaw on each side of the moulding of the boss which fits on the seat shaft.

I believe that is what caused the boss to crack on both sides.

You'll know if you have a faulty one. It will feel sloppy in operation and wobbly when not.

I picked up my Citigo Elegance this weekend, and I am struggling a bit with the seat mechansim. I push the lever towards the rear and the seat back tilts forward a short way, but then I have to push it further forwards and then apply quite a bit of pressure to slide the seat forwards. When trying to move the seat back, I end up having to use the lever underneath the seat to slide it back into position. Is this your experience of it working correctly, or am I perhaps doing something wrong?

Just curiosity, if something is broken in a new car, why wouldn`t it be fixed by warranty ?

If they try to claim it's wear and tear or caused by improper use?

Hopefully this is not a sign of crappy build quality to keep the price down ?

Not my experience snuggles.

It sounds like you are doing it right.

The seat in ours slides quite easily using the lever to release it and a hand on the back of the seat base.

Sliding back, again using the lever to release and a hand on the front of the seat.

Maybe the seat runners on yours are slightly out of position?

Easy cure more than likely is slackening the seat runner bolts then retightening.

After two or three weeks ? Not a chance !

Thank you CFB, if I can't improve it I'll pop to the dealers next time I'm out that way to compare it to their demo cars.
