Looks like my Tsi will be staying stock power

Featured Replies

Spoke to my insurance broker earlier as I popped into dvla this morning to swap my private plate on the vRS. So thought I would enquire as to How much the extra premium would be if I chipped it (quoted 41bhp increase) they came back with an extra 111 quid I wouldn't mind but I am 48 have full no-claims and a clean licence. Live in a low risk area with the car garaged. Seems Adrian Flux either don't like me or the Vrs, they were even more expensive than skoda insurance on the STD car, had to go with them as the cancellation fees were too much.

Been a customer with them for a few years too, usually they are very good too.

Will have to wait and see come my renewal, might be able to chip it then.

Shame - more to look forward to though. Try some of the other specialist brokers when the renewal comes up then.

£2 a week = big smiles.

not worth it - shame you are tied in to them for the duration of the current policy

Two quid a week Plus the cost of the remap: -(

I don't think that's particularly unreasonable to be honest.

Adrian Flux cheapest broker for me for the past 2 years although and im a bit younger, mid 40's!

To be honest the power increase on a mapped Tsi would more likely be 50+ BHP

£111.00 is about 1.5 tanks of petrol.....tbh it would be money well spent, it transforms a good car into a brilliant car. The performance gains are worth that extra premium!

That's the point I was trying to make. If you take the price of the map + your current insurance premium the extra £111 is money really well spent.

£2 a week.

I've been getting quotes for mine. I paid £190 with direct line this year...cheapest with a stage 1 is £550. I guess it's because I'm 27 and they will label me a bell-end if I map it.

try Greenlight?

or Chris Knott. I pay £450 for fully comp, 20K miles a year with business use cover, protected no claims and comprehensive breakdown cover and guaranteed hire car in case of theft/accident.

I found Adrian Flux very expensive, probably because I do high mileage and need business use cover.

Greenlight didn't like my postcode (first insurance company to ever mention it) and recommended to go to Adrian Flux as they wouldn't be able to provide a competitive quote.

I know what you mean!

I had my PD140 lowered with Skoda branded Eibachs and my premium went up by almost 25% (including the usual annual increases despite the full no claims).

(I'm 41 and want the fuel economy and torque rather than full on power).

I tried all the Briskoda affiliated agents and found my current insurer were still the best (Santander) by about £5. A quick call to them and £45 disappeared off that very quickly!

I'd hate to think how much a remap would add to my insurance though...

My road tax is over €600 and my insurance for business use is over €900.

I am 43 with a spotless licence and 60% no claims.

You guys should try running a car in Ireland.

HTC Sensation XE using Tapatalk.

Most insurers are crooks!

If you do anything they just up your premium .... bigger wheels... tinted glass.... bigger brakes.... handling kits all drive up premiums just because they can.

That sneaky SP30 is on your licence for 3 years but all ask for convictions for 5 years extra £100 per premium!

Even winter tyres, surely a safety feature if ever there was one gets them all in a fluster and many slap a few quid on as its "a modification"

And if you ever do "heaven forbid" make a genuine claim... they will stall, lie and attempt to wriggle out of anything!

Greedy

Would recommend Sky off her. Very helpful and cheaper than the others by half in some cases.

£111 will be including an administration fee of probably £25. Why not wait and add a few mods at the same time chances are the premium will not change. For a full year it's not bad, don't forget it's an extra risk plus they will have to replace the "mods" in the misfortune of an accident.

Don't get me wrong I think they are all thieving blighters!

Still in shock that adding my brother on to my fiat 500 policy as a learner driver (29 years old) doubled the policy.
