Problem with MDI and Amundsen+

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new here so please be gentle!

I've just purchased a 2011 Octavia vRS and am really pleased with it.

I've replaced the Bolero stereo with an Amundsen+ unit.

I have tried to add the MDI kit to connect my iPhone but when selecting the Media button it says "No medium available". Looking at the iPhone when pressing the Media button, it briefly starts playing a track but then stops.

I took the MDI kit out of my VW Golf so know it works and if I plug the RNS 510 unit from the Golf into the Octavia and connect the MDI kit everything works fine.

If I put the original Bolero unit back in and connect the MDI kit I get the same "No medium available" message.

Any ideas would be gratefully received as I've searched the Internet and this forum extensively and found nothing.

Thanks.

I've got the Amundsen+ but it was factory fitted. I don't use the MDI interface at the moment because all my music is on an SD card.

Are you able to link the iPhone to the unit by bluetooth? If its like mine you can also play the iPhone music that way, the difference is the iPhone is in control of which track is playing etc.

Have you had the car coded to basically tell it that the MDI is there?

If not, it could be the cause of the issues you are having.

If the Amundsen+ has sat nav (I'm not up on the new units) then that will also need coding.

Thanks for the replies. The car did just need coding which my local specialist did free of charge for me. All working fine now!!

Glad it was something simple.
