Two problems need help!

Featured Replies

First problem is I have uprated my TIP to the creation motorsport one been on awhile now and have no issues with it. Although I have noticed where it goes behind the metal water pipe its get very skinny almost squashed is this the case for everyone?

Second problem is a boost leak. Where are the most common leaks found? What kits do I need here to uprate all my pipes (standard smic)?

I don't think so the e39 I wanted was taken down so I'm just going to sell my s3 seats and buy an exhaust to reignited my love for the car.

First I need to sort the boost leak but have no clue what pipes need changing!

I know what ya mean dude . Pity your still not selling . I had a mate very interested in your car

I might still sell it for the right price but I still need to fix the boost problem. Dont like selling things that don't work!

how much do you want for your s3 seats?

If it helps, when I fitted my creations motorsport intercooler->throttle body hose I had to do a fair bit of trimming on either end to prevent it pinching and get it to sit right. In fact, when it was first fitted it was pinched in the middle and pushed against the intercooler beyond where the original was fitted. As I got the DV relocation kit combined with the rest of the silicone pipes I checked out the forge fitting instructions (have a look from one of my earlier posts) and it gave an instruction on how to trim silicone pipes and stated it could be required to prevent pinching.

However, I do not know which hose the forge instructions were relating to, but based on this I figured the hoses are made too big with the expectation you trim them..... That said, I have only ever heard of an aftermarket TIP (in this case the one fitted by RobChubley, check out pimpmyskoda.co.uk incase you haven't heard of it....), where it was too short compared to the original so it could be the other way, or maybe just twisted. Did you compare it to the original when you took it off? Got any photos of it fitted and the issue?

Hopefully Clive or Gee will be along soon to give an idea if you need to trim any of the creations pipe to fit them correctly, including the TIP as I haven't gotten around to fitting that bit yet....

I would of thought if the TIP goes very skinny it could be offering more restriction than the original and cause you to lose power, might be worth checking to see if that's fitted right before assuming it's a boost leak, unless you can hear one at all, or it was on the rolling road with that TIP.

Hi m8, did you have any joy in sorting these issues out? have you scanned it? is it throwing back any codes?

the boost kit is this one http://www.creationsmotorsport.com/product-detail.php?pid=60 in the link you posted and there's a nice guide on how to fit it here http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/119678.aspx

I don't think your TIP should be squashedup\skinny, it should hold it's shape, can you take a photo? the guys at creation motorsport are sound and would probably offer to replace it for you if you bought it directly from them and it's doing something it shouldn't.

I have a Creations TIP, I had the same problem, ended up trimming about 1" from it at the turbo end to get it to sit right!

Most TIP's are actually a bit longer than needed to fit around and between the various pipes depending on how the set up is. i recall cutting arounf 11/2 inches off mine to get a good fit and nice without any kinks etc.

also a good tip(excuse the pun :giggle: ) is when the tip is tightened on the turbo side when you go to fit, MAF/Airbox is to rotate the silicon TIP eiather clockwise or anticlockwise to stop the TIP collapsing and tighten up on the MAF when you have best position. You will see what I mean when you look at the TIP. Sometimes these can be pressed hard against the DV, and other hoses

as for your boost leak most common is the "S" pipe under the inlet manifold. That gets split and you can here it hissing sometimes
