Rear Drivers Door & MOT

Featured Replies

Afternoon guys!

Ok, So. MOT time is due next week (urgh) and my rear drivers door has decided to crap itself and is being tempremental with the central locking. Sometimes it unlocks, sometimes it doesn't.

Now, will the MOT tester fail it on this? I've done abit of research and its come back abit of a grey area?

Might take the door card off later but don't see the point as i don't have another mechanism,

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

it must be possible to open all doors from the outside, otherwise it will fail.

If you can unlock the door, you can disconnect the lock. There's nothing in the MOT to say the door must lock.

Cheers guys!

from what i remember (used to be a mot tester) this was a huge grey area- as long as one of the rear doors opened to allow access to the rear.. all was well.. but- the argument against was- how are you supposed to check the bodywork hidden by the closed door for corrosion/ etc?.. i used to dread cars coming in with dodgy rear doors :( front=easy= instant fail.. one rear-not so easy.. saying that its been 3+ years since i carried out an mot- things are changing fast with the mot regs..

The all doors opening is a very recent change that came in this year, along with a few other things.

i got out of the trade just after they brought the towbar rules in.. :( could see the way it was going.. more and more regs.. :( glad im out of it :)
