Greenline DPF CARE

Featured Replies

Hi,

Gotta Superb Greenline 09....1.9tdi S

Need good info on best DPF cleaner out there and costs...

I have found JLM selling 100mil cans to be added prior OR after any service ( do advise ), cost is around 28.00 sterling?

All good advice welcome,

Thats seems expensive.

I can't see how that will do anything. The best thing you can probably do is get the DPF nice and hot from a good hard drive to burn off the carbon periodically.

I understand the DPF does have a shelf life of around 100k, after that it might need replacing.

There is no such thing as a DPF cleaner, the car will do a perfectly good job itself without any additive. As mentioned, you need to remember that the DPF is a consumable part and as such will by the very way they work require replacing eventually. It's not a case of if, but when it will need replacing. Soot builds up in the DPF a passive or active regeneration clears this soot and converts it to ash, the ash will remain in the DPF forever and eventually lead to it needing replacement.

Like most JML products, they look good on paper but are not always worth buying.

Hil,

Many thanks....what are the best options for buying a new DPF ? Can I consider a used DPF, give links please to best suppliers? Can I get one delivered to my home and bring it to my local mechanic to fit , or must I bring it to the official SKODA dealer to have it fitted?

What are my costs likely to be?

A new DPF costs around £1,200 GBP fitted at a Skoda dealer.

A DPF removal and remap is £449 GBP.

Guess which option I'd recommend!?

Do you have problems with yours to be thinking about buying a new 1?

Hi,

No problems at this time but with 1K miles a week I need to plan for all possible eventualities, I wonder how my MPG would be affected with removal of DPF and remap or tuning box ?

All good advice welcome...
