Joel,

What is the insurance like on a remapped Octy? I am possibly planning to get a remap but I am concerned that the insurance companies will take me to the cleaners with the increased premium.

What is the insurance like on a remapped Octy?
Why not contact Chris Knott - with whom Briskoda has a special arrangement - to see what they come up with?

The magic is still there almost 2 years after I had mine remapped. :D

Laurence, it's so dependant...honestly mine is mapped from new. 30k superchip, 23k apr...a half dozen tracky type events and not exactly kind to it. Only now is it begining to show signs of wear....in all honesty it would be fine I'm sure for longer I I nurse it...but I'm not...it's a good thing to consider, but not a remap clutch blows day after situation, although it could be I guess if unlucky.

i wouldnt worry too much about clutch/brakes/gearbox.....this is why... your clutch will need replacing at some point anyways and rember monkey boy had his clutch done at the dealers...cheaper places are avalible!....brakes its the same car and same weight so stopping from say 80mph is the same dispite the fact you have more power...just think and drive safely....gear box at 226bhp id imagine is still well with in it tolerances.. !

Joel, did you tweak the re-map for more lower end speed, like you wanted

i am going to pick up my 2002 vRS shortly....it has 3 years Skoda warranty....what happens to that if i chip it?

Can i 'chip it back' for servicing? I have heard of something like a switch under the dash that puts the car back into 'valet mode' - is this bull****?

would like to chip it but..... =dont want to throw warranty away...

I would agree with that comment if you are doing a constant 80mph but if you are accelerating hard in 4th gear and then brake at the 80mph point you will notice the difference between being stock and remapped.

It certainly does void the warranty... But only if they notice it. As said before the vRS brother cars are so modifiable that any warranty repair on something like the clutch may well result in the dealer checking the ECU and they can tell pretty quick its been modified... Its a question of whether you wanna take the risk...

Certainly wait a few thousand miles to run it in first...

I am in the same position as you - new Furby vRS bought last week. :D

For the time being im happy with the stock performance...!
