Tdi 2000 rpm hesitition

Featured Replies

I have been experiencing a hesitation between 1500-2000rpm on a Octavia MK1 1.9 Tdi 130bhp for the past month, it's fine if you accelerate hard or go past 2000rpm. The cambelt was changed 4 months ago, so I don't they have got the timing wrong. It sounds as though it could be the MAF, EGR valve or turbo. Has anybody experienced this fault?

Could be MAF related, or maybe sticky vanes on the turbo. Any fault codes? Unlikely to be EGR valve, imho.

No code faults were reported. I think I'd better start with the MAF, a new fuel filter and diesel injector cleaner. If I still have the problem looks like it's the turbo, although it seems odd that the 2004 car has only done 63,000 miles should have a turbo problem.

is driven gently then the turbo can easily be the source of problems....

Try disconnecting the vacuum pipe from the n75 valve to the turbo and sucking on it - do you get full smooth travel on the actuator on the turbo, or does it get stuck?

His is a pd so doesn't have this pump, its a common rail setup. Maf is usually first step, when mine went I could floor it and got no boost until 3k then it wEnt off like a rocket.

I bought a MAF, fuel filter and checked turbo, fault was still there. After more investigation I found the turbo pipe was off, the headlight was taken out to gain access (must have happened when the cambelt was done). Problem is now fixed.

Thanks guys for given me ideas where to look.

Or they put the turbo pipe back on and failed to secure it properly. First bit of boost and it popped off.
