What benefit will this have?

What benefit will this have?

cools the engine oil :D

Once you fit a bigger turbo/do track days etc these engines heat the oil up alot, as the oil cools the turbo aswell as lubricating it.

I know it cools oil [emoji23]

I was just wondering but if the oil is actually getting too hot on trackdays it makes sence. But cooling the oil when not needed would surely cause components to wear more as theyre designed for the oil to be a sertain temp when lubricating. Or that might be a load of ****** what i just said?

I'll have a go at this. (correct me if wrong )

What you said is correct about the oil been cooled when not needed, but the kits come with a thermostat which only allows the oil to pass through the cooler when it reaches a certain temperature.

That makes sense. And a good idea [emoji106]

Correct although you don't have to buy the thermostat it is sensible to spec it in, for those reasons.

When you fit the rad to the Fabia panel mount it as far forward as possible if you intend to fit a cooler. The filter on the 1.8T is long and angled and the cooler adds 3.5cm to that pushing it in to the radiator. Atleast on mine. Thinking of a way to mount fans at the front rather than behind the rad at the moment :)

Once running etc i'll probably just get some universal fans for mine. Fitted them to a mk1 golf GTD i did a few years ago and they were awesome

I think most (if not all) of us that bought the kit are planning on mounting it behind where the OE intercooler sits behind the fog light.

Charlie needs to hurry up and show us how it's done ;)

Pip, it's worth pointing out that an oil cooler isn't really necessary for just road use. As you're never consistently on WOT for a long time. Hence the oil doesn't get even close to the temps that you'd see on-track.

I really do :)

It's just dawned on me I'm running out of weekends before castle Combe.

I have Tuesday off to make the most out of the bank holiday weekend. Hopefully get something done :)

Hey... at least you have a car in one piece!! :D

That's true :D you're making great progress with yours :)

Cheers mate! Slowly but surely...  Just gotta get it finished in the next week to have a chance at bedding the clutch in for Combe.

The day I had my new clutch fitted I took my girlfriend at the time to the cinema. My rear calipers started to seize that day and had to do a hill start without the handbrake. Resulted in a bit of smoke and clutch smell. I nearly cried lol

Oh christ... don't!!!

Good job they're all just been rebuilt isn't it!

LOL Charlie. I'll try and take some photos of mine tonight, or this morning prior to work and upload them as soon as I can.

I've had my car for 2 years now and quite simply it is a brilliant car! I've done a few things to it during this time, some good, some not so good. I thought I'd experiment a little.

Don't have too many pics of when I first got it, but I'm sure you all know what a standard Fabia looks like.

I found a different front grille on Superskoda so thought I'd give it a go. I also found a set of DRL projector lights. Not to everyones taste but I really like them

Next up I had a go at brightening up the interior. The dash board was rather depressing. Again from Supeskoda I ordered their aluminium look dash kit and got a new double din HU

The first big mod was getting custom leather from Seat Surgeons. Fantastic quality and something quite unique

It was then time to get experimental.

I wanted to continue the blue colour theme on the exterior too, so thought I'd change the grille and fog surrounds.

The plan was to also do the wheels the same colour, but it didn't go down too well so I moved on to a different idea.

Decided to Carbon wrap the grille

and get some pasty boy badges

July11001.jpg

By this stage I was getting bored of the green dash lights so decided to change them

Next I decided something a little different and customise the front grilles

This is how it stayed for a few months while I started saving for more goodies.

how did you do the honeycomb grill?
