Octavia Sport owners, how many?

Featured Replies

Been looking around the site and can't seem to find any other sport owners, where are you all hiding?

Just wondering how many of us there are on here, as in the 2yrs I've owned mine I've only ever seen 2 others on the road. They also don't come up for sale very often, took me about 3 month to buy mine.

Does anyone know if there was only ever a certain number produced, or was it just a case of they dropped production of the sport to concentrate on the Vrs?

I think the sport was a UK edition? I could be wrong but I have also only ever seen a silver and a red one.

They looked really smart with the pegusis alloys and lowered suspension!

When I was looking for one to buy they were really holding their value but this was years ago. :-)

Yeah as far as I can find they only ever made them in red, silver and black.

I looked at two before buying mine, a black one and a silver one with a dsg box

They definitely seem to hold there value though, as any I've seen come up for sale since I've had mine are always a bit more than other models (excluding Vrs)

This one has been on Autotrader for well over a year.

(I spend way too much time looking on Autotrader so I know that this one has been around a long time).

It's described as an Ambiente but looks like a Sport to me?

I'm not a fan of red cars but everytime I scroll past it it catches my eye.

There is something about a pre-FL Octavia with 17's, colour coded rubbing strips, the Sport front and rear bumpers and the discreet lip spoiler.

I think it's because 99% of all the other Octavia's look the same!

There was a guy called Roo who had a black sport too :-)

Wasn't the Sport based in the Ambiente trim but with Extras?

Possibly unless your a Skoda aficionado any "special edition" car will always be at heart just a Skoda with a few extras

Unlike audis "S-Line" BMW M-sport and so on

I looked at a 1.8 TSi sport ... nice looking car but for £1500 extra over the elegance??? no way

That one on autotrader comes back as an ambiente when you check the numberplate, but it does appear to have all the sport bits.

But not the small sport badges on the rear doors ;-)

Well the clincher is the VRs steering wheel, gotta be a sport but for VRs money??

I know what I would have!

I have a black 2005 Sport myself and love the way it looks. The sport is really just Ambiente spec with all the extra styling bits bolted on.

As RichieH and others have said - it is an Ambiente underneath.

The Sport is a nice looking car though

Damo just to have a mint red one.

They do hold their money.

I think these 2 for sale on autotrader ATM - A red and black one.

Yep, I have a 2006 black 2.0 pd td Sport. It is an ambiente spec but with the lowering kit, pegasus alloys and sport front bumper and I believe the Vrs rear bumper oh and a Boot lip spoiler.

I beleive it was made between 2005 and 2007.

The Sport rear bumper is actually slightly different to the vRS design. No idea why it's different and it was only used on the Sport. I've got a photo somewhere showing the difference.

The Sport one is a "add on" that sits on top of the standard bumper right? simular to the Fabia MK vRS

The front bumper is slightly different, as is the rear I think.

Yeah mate, I had someone go into the back of me last year.

The bodyshop was unable to get a new rear sport bumper as they are like a lower skirt added to a standard bumper, unlike a Vrs which is all one piece.

So they had to repair mine.

Yep, both are effectively a 'skirt' added to a standard bumper.

As for your bump last year John, I'd have just got them to fit a vRS rear bumper. Far simpler solution and easier to source :)

I did actually think about that mate, but when they explained the difference I decided against it.

And yeah I know it's a taxi and will probably be worth about £5 when I'm finished with it, but I still like it to be right if you know what I mean.

It's like my other car, it would bug me to have GSI bits on it instead of ST parts. To most there is no difference, but there is to people who know lol

I have a very nice Red one, Tdi DSG, and has been spec'd up to Elegance level, inc Curtain Airbags and Auto lights and wipers, Jumbo Box and 4 electrric windows, can't remember what else,

My father used to have one in Anthracite Grey, not seen it for ages (it was a 2006 model) and just by chance I passed it the other day.

I know my local dealer had two in that colour, one 2.0 Petrol and one 2.0 TDi which they registered at the same time.

My father used to own the 2.0 Petrol.

I nearly bought a 55 plate 2.0 TDI Sport in Grey actually - trouble was it was in London and the deal didn't quite work out which was a shame.

But never mind - one came up locally for like £500 cheaper (the one I have now)

I recently bought a front spoiler part no. FAA 610 001 I think it's the same one as fitted to the sport it fits over the top of number plates and clips in where black moulding after removal. My front bumper had a slight split and rather than repair or replace with same then spray I thought this one looks better .seems to have been an extra, gives instructions for deactivating front sensors as they cannot be used with the spoiler

  • 2 weeks later...

I have a Black Magic Sport on an '07 plate. It's been a great car but just ordered a new VRS today. I think it might be the car I really wanted all along...
