Fair play but I think the way this is scored is like a top trumps game almost, and because the galaxy has a bigger processor and a traditional quad core it wins. I don't think it will be faster browsing and loading videos tho tbh. But as others have said, both good phones, some prefer apple some prefer android.

Looking forward to Friday tho :D

  • If apple spent half as much time on r&d as they do dragging samsung to court then we might be waiting for a truely innovative product right now......... just saying

  • Unless Apple relent on the Bluetooth issue, namely allowing the transfer of files (MP3, PDF & DOC) between phones of all brands via Bluetooth, then the Iphone can sit resolutely on the shelf where

isn't that a bit like me saying, "hmm fair play but I think the VRS Octavia only gets higher scores than the 1.0 citigo coz of the way it's scored like top trumps. I don't think the vRS will be any faster driving down the motorway"?

I think the bottom line is I wouldn't buy anything without trying it out first, especially if you're talking about a significant chunk of cash like you are for any of these phones.

I bought my iMac having only used a previous G4.

I bought my Canon 50D having only used a previous 350D

I bought my PS3 having only used a PS2

I bought my iPhone 4s having only used my iPhone 3GS

I bought my Toyo T1-Rs having only used Goodyear Eagle F1s

Granted; I bought my car and my house after trying them (or at least viewing them) first. But a lot of purchases are made with no hands-on experience of the product and only marketing/loyalty/reviews to go on. Even expensive stuff (my 50D was £850 at the time, and I'd never even seen one in real life before).

Say what you will about the iPhone, but it's pretty much guaranteed that if you like the current phone then you're not going to be disappointed in any way with the new one. So it's not really a risk.

Clearly the level at which you're prepared to buy based on marketing speak is much higher than mine

Good luck asking to test drive tyres before buying them :)

Well obviously there are limits. But I don't get the whole "oh look a shiny new thing has been announced (apple/android/skoda/whatever) the marketing says it is amazing, so I have put in an order for one."

Apple seem to get a lot of stick because their devotees seem more prone to it than most, it's a marketing person's wet dream.

Trust?

Who cares?

The iPhone in my opinion looks better, feels better, is easier to navigate and is higher quality build and materials. And most importantly never fails unlike my Mrs galaxy.

Higher quality? Most are the same parts as every other phone.

"trust me, I'm in marketing, everything is 100 per cent true and I would never exaggerate anything "

If you believe that sort of thing I just bought a new pc, maybe you'd like to buy the old one. It's six years old but is totally cutting edge with stunning performance. Only £700 :D

An iPhone 4s feels better designed and built than any other handset I've used, but yes, flash memory is flash memory and so on. Quite a few parts are made by Samsung anyway.

As for their £426 profit, thats ignoring the VAT which is nearly £100, all the research and development costs, manufacturing and delivery to stores, marketing and so on and so forth. They've done an excellent job of keeping some of their costs down which is why their profits are so strong, but they don't make 400 quid on a phone.

Yeah, the iPhone is made of metal and glass rather that cheap horrible plastic like all the samsungs I've handled! A mate has the stupid note thing that's massive! He dropped it while sitting in the car, from the steering wheel to the drivers footwell and the screen glass cracked (the screen itself is still useable but rather the glass in front of it is cracked) my iPhone has been dropped many times and as of yet (touch wood) no damage! Much better build quality.

And to be honest apple could make £5000 profit from each phone and I wouldn't care, as long as it works and it's at a comparable price to other phones, I'll buy it.

I find it hard to believe that the iPhone glass is hard waring, the slightest drop will chip the glass to be fair, so you're very lucky by the sounds of it :)

I do agree tht the iPhone 4- onwards have really put quality to phones simular to a nice watch. you pay for the quality and fit & finish... I was obsessed with the ip4, then I got annoyed with it's un versatile interface, I came across Android and was sold!

but now theres the new Windows 8 mobile, and I'm really keen to give that a go too with the new Nokia Lumia series... so for me it's whats different and fun to use...

I'd still want an ip5 but I know what to expect so thats why I'm keen to try another brand. :) and who else to go back to but one of the original mobile phone trend setters!

My wife has tried to get a nano-sim from T-Mobile today. They say that if they post one out to her, her current SIM will become deactivated at midnight, and could take 2 days to be delivered.

What a load of tripe. She has to go to a shop for instant changeover. Luckily, there is an Orange shop locally that claims to have a T-Mobile in it too...

...EverythingEverywhere! :)

That's the plan. Just need the phone now. Oh, and Nokia to release the 920 kthx

920 looks awesome! I can get one in yellow too! :p

Anyone had their phone delivered yet? I'm waitin ATM, have to go soon :( I'll prob miss it like last year :( lol

The way they were going at launch, should be called "SomethingSomewhere" ;)

Given the events of the last few days, in Britain at least, Apple have lost a few cities and re-located others. Sounds like iTunes....

Will be interesting to see how Appfail will try and blame TomTom for this one.

Surprised they didn't try and call the map thing, iMap and then sue the rest of the computer world too.

Mine arrived about 90 mins ago, but I am still in the process of updating it (as I was VCDS ing a Yeti when it arrived)

Looks and feels nice so far.

The queue in covent garden today was comedy.

Many flapping on iDevices and desperate to spend money on the latest version.

Loads of Students too. I guess if students can afford this stuff then the fees are not too high after all.

Many think that's what student loans/grants (or whatever they are called now) are for... the latest gadgets and nice cars

How do you know they've not been paid a ton to stand in the queue and buy one by some Russian type?

Well there thousands of people queuing so not all of them could. That plus plenty had all the I devices and were queuing during normal working hours.

I've got a picture of the back of the queue which gives a good idea of the number of people if you know the area.

Everywhere I go looks like its full of students. I decided thought that it was more due to my age than everyone everywhere actually being a student.
