Washing Windows

Featured Replies

No matter how I wash the inside of the car windows within a day they have a haze over them. What is the best thing to use to clean the windows and stop them going hazy?

Oh my god please someone answer this I've just buffed the chariot, and use mr muscle glass cleaner and smears like buggery I've tried most stuff and always smears, vinegar and water ?

I have always done 2 applications of Fog X inside once the windows are properly clean & Rain X outside.

Still in the habit even tho my vehicles are no longer damp inside

& have heaters that work.

Soapy water. - Then a clean cloth.

Dry with a Chamois Leather - Works all the time.

I've used rainx like it but the kids keep nicking it

Megs glass cleaner and a proper glass cloth.

Zero smears everytime. Mr muscle is awful stuff.

DO NOT use household window cleaners.

Personally, I use a new lint-free cloth followed by FogX. Even with Climatronic.

Clean them as mentioned above and then use glass polish (even autoglym glass polish is ok) and make sure you buff off with a decent lint free cloth.

Hi

I use Autoglym 'quick glass' or the cream if it needs more of a clean. I find the quick glass very good - I even did the smaller house windows (in and out) with it yesterday as an experiment - first class result!

As others - get a decent lint free cloth. Enjoy!

Do you use any dash treatments?

If so these can often cause a haze to form on the glass after a few hours/days.

What I do is clean the screen with something like halfords intensive glass cleaner, and then clean the inside of the car and let it ventilate where possible.

A couple of days later, I use a glass cloth and the meguires glass cleaner spray, which is very effective.

That's a pretty good combo.

A new pollen filter can help too if it's been a while since you've changed it (> 1 year)

I agree with the OP, whatever I use it always steam up and looks hazy. I've used everything from glass polish to pure IPA. When I've only clean half of the screen, when it's cold the bit I've cleaned is always first to seam up too.

Last week I used AG's Fast glass to see if that makes any difference. I've never used any RainX products on my car, I might try that anti-Fog stuff at some point.

IMHO (and this is a while ago now) the fog-X made it worse.

The screen was cleaner, so you just got bigger blobs of water, making it harder for the demister on a cold non-AC car to shift it.

Autoglym Fast/Quick Glass for me all the time!

Same here.

Always works well for me and a bottle lasts ages.

Thanks for all the replies, I will try the vinegar first.

Old dad,one of the older generation of drivers always swore by vinegar and newspaper . Said in his younger days it was one of the two good uses for the Daily Record.
