I realise this is an old thread but as Skoffski resurrected it...

Reading that quote, this may well be true BUT, try saying that to a dealership if, after a few years, you need a warranty fix and you have NOT undertaken the required service schedule!

Whilst you are not legally obliged to undertake it, they will quite rightly say your vehicle has gone wrong due to this oversight or may well have had the issue spotted and resolved sooner and cheaper, if it HAD been done. So, in a loophole, the servicing will be a level requirement, at least, to maintain any warranty.

You can, however, have any qualified person undertake this schedule, not necessarily the manufacturer/official dealer, so long as the service /maintenance is carried out to the manufacturers official schedule.  They might try wriggling out of issues if you go just a few hundred miles over this schedule, for example!

Returning to the wheels sticking issue, this is just basic chemistry...

What I find funny is that people know the issue, do nothing about it, then say "Someone else" Should have done something!

If you are aware of the issue, pop the wheels off and copperslip the rears.

If you weren't, now you are! Read the above line!

If you are unable to do this, take the vehicle to your local tyre centre and ask them to do it. Small cost but will save aggro later.

I also find it weird that in say, two years driving, you have not needed to change either brakes or tyres, etc. So, if at any time you need new grippers or stoppers, get the person who does the job to copperslip the wheels. Don't just rely on them doing it but ask at first point of call if they do it or can do it and also, when taking the car to them, ask/insist it be done. £400 worth of tyres is surely worth 50p worth of copperslip and a few seconds applying it!

The Skoda Fixed Price Website / Advert really is saying again that the wheels will be removed at a Major / 20,000 mile service.

That would be at the 2nd / 40,000, so 4 years maybe if even then.

A few years back where there were rear drums as there still are on the same cars that had them,

the site also said Check Brakes, and some places did, but still the wheels were not off after, 1,2,3,4 or even more years with Full Main Dealer Servicing.

So those trusting to a Service Plan or FMDSH should maybe ask for the things that supposedly gets done. Or not as the case is.
