Featured Replies

I'll let you guys know it's been ordered so as soon as I get the nod I'll be collecting, fitting and back to the tuners for APR stage 2 :)

  • The gases arent traveling around a bend in those pics, they are being forced out of the rear silencer in a straight line right out through the straight tail pipe. Gases are still a fluid and fluids w

yeah maybe.

@ Sib, i have a dyno graph of mine v stock vs stage 1. Never had someone to load a stage 2 on from. Whos sorting your APR map, is it from APR HQ? Would be handy if it is because it'll mean we have all the graphs to compare directly then.

I'll be having my stage 2 loaded on by awesome gti, manchester. All depends on when I receive the exhaust system as I will be fitting it myself then running the car to awesome for the map..I have not yet had it RR with stage 1 map yet, I have figures of stock, then Forge IC fitted but no graphs of proof, I may well get the car RR at stage 1 before and stage 2 after I fit the exhaust, depends how impatient I am when it arrives :)

Yhsts a rip off. it has no cat so sjould cost hardly anything

The like of Miltek, BCS etc all charge approx £250-350 for a decat as theres nothing to it. Cats are expensive hence why downpies arent cheap normally, but that supersprint one is criminal IMO.

Well just thought might offer another option for people.

Does any1 just remove middle silencer and does it sound a bit meaner

Fitted the exhaust after work this evening, full turbo back & decat..wow comes to mind, it sounds brilliant!! YouTube videos don't really give the full rasp this exhaust gives when driving the car yourself, apr stage 2 map will hopefully be loaded on tomorrow maybe Saturday. Then it'll be time for the dyno to see the cars overall figures! :)

Good times. Done a long motorway journey with mine today and noticed it drones at 3500rpm but not above or below that.

I did a short motorway trip last night 10 mile round trip, didn't go above 80mph, slight drone but the road noise and stereo on 8 volume drowned it out so quite happy overall :)

Driving in 'D' letting the car change up and down gears itself up to 30/40mph around town is a bit droney although I use the paddles or manual shift more often nowadays which gives out a much nicer tone.

Yours is probably slightly louder than mine because I still have the last OEM rear silencer.

ahhh I see so what exactly is your exhaust system made up from?

Mineis just the downpipe and has the centre silencer removed. The final 1m of exhaust complete with the rear silencer and tail pipes is still oem

I see will the oem rear box not restrict the air flow?

No mate. zero power gains to be had with the cat back. power gains =downpipe and Cat

get a varex on there! loud or super quiet at the press of a button... XD

Actually, there is some back-pressure from the stock-exhaust!

I can try to get hold off the information which Ray's have about the exhaust =).

Of course there is back pressure. but after having fitting CAT backs to all my last few cars with no power gains and seeing that the cat back for mine would only be around 1 m of pipe and a single silencer i reaaly cant see much being released. Certsinly there isnt much to gain or material required to justify the cost over tje downpipe.

All my opinion of course

I'll have the information on Monday, but it's not off any noticeable gain at low power.

It's abit more then 1 m of pipe tho ;).

Another fact tho that is quite interesting is that the stainless steel-exhaust weighs almost 20 kg LESS then the stock-system.

All my facts of course ;).

I agree with that mate, the Milltek catback has more than 1m of pipe on mine. What shocked me tho was indeed the weight difference - the stock backbox and centre section was ridiculously heavy compared to the Milltek item! Was abit of a struggle to lift it into the back of the furby to take it home haha ;-)

I said "Around" Maybe a small under exaggeration but its not exactly much longer.

It will be alot lighter as you guys say, but considering my previous 2.25 decat OEM downpipe complete with ALL the oem silencers made exactly the same power as my miltek down pipe which is substantially larger in bore and leaves only the rear silencer in place, I just really can't see there being any worthwhile power gains in the final small section of the exhaust which again backs up the before after dyno graphs that I have had previously on past cars.

On my octavia iirc the catback exhaust netted me a whopping 1hp lol. And that was on a stage 2+ car.

On a side note there's a disturbing amount of men winking at each other on this forum recently....

Agree on the lack of power gains in a catback, anybody wanting more poke will be disappointed. I was purely after a better exhaust note and the nicer looking tailpipes so I'm happy.

With so many men comparing the length and girth of their 'pipe' and how powerful they are with it I'm not surprised there is abit of winking going on lol
