Hi All,

My wife is looking into buying a Skoda Octavia Vrs as the family runaround & I'm afraid to say that WE NEED HELP with this!!

We have tried to look for a VRS but there are so many options available we are both totally lost!

We think we want a diesel as we would get better MPG but looking for advice as if the petrol version is better we would like to know.

It needs to be a hatchback for the boot space (Buggy & Shopping etc).

I'm also keen to know which is the best option as I've seen 1.9ltr or 2.0ltr FSI's & DSG's etc as this makes a difference with the tax band.

& Is it best to stay away from a High mileage version?

We have a budget of £5.5K

Would be looking for 2004 - 2005 car which I think is a Mark II Facelift??

Black or Blue.

I would suggest a vRS diesel Mk2. I own one and they have a massive boot space. 170bhp and I can get 41mpg. They handle well and got lots of goodies too. Up to 100k miles should be ok but make sure that it has a full service history with a cambelt change too. Check for any evidence of oil in coolant or water in oil.
