exhaust options for vRS

Featured Replies

I'm looking to fit a stainless cat/turbo-back exhaust on the car. I'm not sure which tailpipe i fancy yet, maybe just a plain oval or normal twin exit, something a little different to the standard one.

What options are out there that result in a (small) gain in power, ae built well and look good? I don't want a "mufflerectomy" as i'm happy to change the tailpipe but i don't want something that will foul the bumper when it comes through.

You can change the tailpipe with a mufflerectomy, its most likley your best option to be fair as its custom built and less likley to foul like some after market off the shelf jobs.

Power wise you wont find any gains realy with just an exhaust, they say the standard system doesnt get effected till about 200bhp.

fair enough, i might just look into a different tailpipe. I'm not that bothered about the performance difference, or even the noise of it, if there was something that shouted "i'm perfect" then i'd go for it but some custom work might be the best idea

I've had a mufflerectomy which I was really happy with but now I'm craving the full de-cat so going to get the rest made up soon! Even with a silencer and a fake car it's only going to have cost me £250 :)

i had a piper one on mine! very good :) Unit 18 in MK do them

what system is that?

I have a twin exit on mine outward rolled. 2.5 inch :)

A decat isn't going to cause the rear to go sooty is it? I have a shark remap ATM or do you think in going to feel that 'drop in power' that people often experience with a full system?

Iv got a piper system also from unit 18. Sounds great and looks great, excellent build quality too!

Only thing for me with the piper system is I'm not a fan of the brand name being stamped into the tailpipes, I'd rather have them plain.

Piper system does sound nice must admit for a diesel as I got to hear Deadmau5 s system.

Do blueflame still do the oval tailpipe and system? There is a nice black VRS on here with one fitted I think, the mentioned tailpipe is my favourite.

Still don't know on an exhaust as you don't gain anything at all on a diesel performance wise til silly power.

got the same on my Ibiza. no cat, no silencers, sounds pretty decent on boost

How much do unit18 charge fr a mufflerectomy?

I want to keep the stock tailpipe.

How loud is it in everyday?

Another vote for the Piper. It's superb

it's not quiet, but if you're driving at a sensible pace it's not stupid loud.

How loud do you reckon it would be with the cat still in? Thinking of getting the piper catback without silencer.

no idea at all, went straight from cat+silencer to decat+no silencers

I run a Scorpion system with an oval tail pipe, the Piper sounds good though with the choice of oval or twin tail pipes.

Mufflerectomy with cat is still fairly quite until you floor it then you can hear it. All my mates still comment on how much you can hear the turbo sucking through the exhaust though.

I'm going to go for a de-cat now though! :)

I presume there's no need for a remap when doing mufflerectomy?

What about when you decat?

No need for a remap with either mate.

No need for a remap with either mate.

But if you do get a remap, make sure this is considered. Likewise don't remap, then decat.
