Engine noise id help

Featured Replies

Hi All

I noticed a scraping noise from engine yeserday managed to get a better look (listen) tonight. It pretty loud and sounds dire. I was worried if it is the DMF going. Its on left of engine so I doubt DMF Must be on right with gearbox (Phew - I think!)

It is rev dependent and will gradually disappear if engine revved to 1200 rpm where I cannot hear it any more!

No coolant loss no oil in water (Must check oil!) as best I can tell it is coming from the area below the washerbottle but on engine. Belts are good I cant see anything obvious.

Noise i think comes from below vibrating tensioner? on left of engine from front.

Anyone care to take a guess- its like scrape - scrape - scrape in time with engine.

This made me pull out of suspension group buy and as Skoda main dealer did Timing belt and water pump just lately I'm no very happy.
