Loud engine noise over 2000 RPM - Skoda Fabia Mk1 (2002) 1.4 petrol

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Fabia has developed a particularly loud engine noise at over 2000 RPM.

It sounds like a formula one car - or when you travel over a concrete surface at speed.

The sounds stops completely if you depress the clutch pedal.

It is particularly bad when engine braking at high revs.

I noted that after driving for an hour or so, the noise is much less noticeable - I wondered if that is due to the engine heating up and some expansion?

Just for reference - the car is a 2002 1.4 petrol, manual, fabia estate.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
