42.8MPG!!!!

..and to think I was considering swapping it for a diesel!!

Just driven up (to manchester) from Birmingham, 108 miles, travelling with flow of traffic around 70, climate turned off...

Just a matter of staying under the turbo I guess

Not bad going! I think the 1.8 is more economical at 70 than the 1.6, though if I keep the

speed at 60-70 for that journey I can get 45.5... :D

Rob.

.... and I'm getting better than expected on a 18 mile round trip journey each day of 38.5 and average inc and tiddleyfarting about at weekends since I've had the car of 35.1  :D

WANTED:-

new co driver for RPM tour... previous encumbent dismissed for crimes against spirited driving.

Is that some kind of sport round your way? :p

Rob.

good one ian!

however, at those speeds in the diesel, you'll be getting high 50's i think.

but, as you say, a diesel won't have those great figures.

Paul..

Important to note this was a company journey - 12p a mile!

still having seen your GT3 driving i can safely assume your right pedal is jammed.......:D

on the way from birmingham? how strange?

only 12p a mile? Sounds a bit cheap to me? For the odd journey I do with my car around Exeter I get 35p a mile. I got paid well over

Do you get a car allowance Jason? :)

Rob.

12p Claim the difference back form the tax man.

Don't ask me how it's calculated I can't be bothered, did a whopping 400 miles last year that I remembered to claim for!

Yep - I get a monthly allowance paid to to me a post-tax lump sum.

But then I hardly ever use the car for company use. No need really, apart from the occaisonal supplier we need to pay urgently, or as yesterday, a tender document to drop into agents in Exeter city centre.

At 35p a mile, I'll happily use my car for company use.

I'd say it's more a case of 222bhp, 231lb Ft, 0-60 In 6.4 *or* 42.8 mpg. :D

Ian

How the expletive did you manage that one ?

I know that the 4x4 is remarkably economical even with 'modifications' but 37mpg is the best I've had on a careful (no more than 75mph) cruise.

Mind you, the Impreza was doing 29 if you were VERY careful on a long motorway run ( ie 200+ miles)

Are you running your tyres at 45psi or something ;)

Try knocking 10mph and be amazed at the difference... :D

Rob.

I can get mid 50s mpg on a 15 or so mile country route into work - but that's steady thottle opening, no sudden acceleration (or movement!) - and it's just far too boring to do except when really low on gas :D

I find it's a matter of watching the tacho, keeping it below 3k, regardless of speed.

The 40 and 50 zones probably helped (specs camera's) tho fighting out of traffic in Birmingham probably didnt.

I'd like to see any other 200bhp+ 4wd turbo 4cyl get the same mpg!

you mean a petrol 4cyl turb 200+ bhp one ;)
