Alcantara & red stitching option on vRS - opinions?

Featured Replies

Know what you mean - interior fabric protection tends to be the forgotten bit of car care really :)

Suppose also in recent years there's been some great products released and the emergence of the 'nano' level protectants. Before that it was a Scotchguard type spray, or nothing.

Also worth doing your car mats with it.

It's strange really, seeing as Goretex and the like have been around for a pretty long time for jackets and outdoor stuff, but the application never quite made it over....

Thinking of buying the one from Skodateile. Anyone had experience of this company ???

I think they're well used by folk on here and I got my MFSW from them. Only ever see good things said and I had no issues.

Sarge.

Thanks for advice. I take it you order via an email ??? As the web site is a little rough and difficult to navigate. As when I click on the " Shop " icon it opens up an email

IIRC yes, it was all done by email. I was a bit apprehensive about it at first but it was fine and Ales (the guy at Skodateile - hope I've remembered his name right) was very helpful.

But is there actually any leather in the seats, I have the seats discussed in this thread and to be honest the excuse for leather is the worst thing about the car.

The only bits that are leather is the bits you sit on.

The rest is vinyl that looks like leather.

This is fairly common with most car makers.

The bits you don't touch are not real leather.

This is why I had my seats retrimmed in full nappa leather in the Yeti, which only cost £1,000 and it looks/feels much better than the stock versions with "leather".

Seats are softer and more comfy too.

Only the bits you touch?? i am quite a slim chap and my legs/arse certainly touch the side bolsters.

If only i had managed to get the blackline i was going to buy and had not dallied for a couple of days meaning the last one was sold.

Re looking after

We have Alcantara in the Scout which I assume is the same basic material as the VRS, The Scout is very much the daily hack & is treated as such, as well as being used & abused we have done 90,000 miles in 3 years, When new Baker21 gave it the once over & treated it, since then 95% of the time cleaning is the local Albanian car wash, £14 for inside & out & its still in virtually as new condition, the other cars have leather which I prefer , both are looked after & treated, the Abarth at 35000 miles is already looking tired so Baker21 has been asked to revive that, The Nissan is looking equally tired.

I cant see people being disappointed by the longevity of the Alcantara & if our experience is anything to go by its lasts well & does not need to be treated with kid gloves

Here in Aus, you can get the black alcantara... And with DSG, you can get the MFSW in red too!

Manual vRS doesn't have MFSW - no idea why!

Just skoda being daft with what they spec. There is no technical reason the manual can't have MFSW, I retrofitted one to mine.

I'm planning on that for mine, too! :)
