Paint Protection on a new VRS

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have a new VRS on order and just wondering if anyone here has got their new car detailed or the paint protected? If yes what was used?

I have done a little reading about it but still not sold on it.

Hi,

I also have a new vrs on order and did some research on this and it seems you are better off buy some good products and doing it yourself and then at least you know that no corners have been cut and you will save some money as well.

I would just do it yourself.

Take at least an hour to check every single panel, seat and interior fitting for damage, scuffs, scratches, pen marks and knife slashes.

Insist on supplying the rear number plate yourself thereby avoiding some monkey horsing them on with selftappers.

If you can, try to get the dealer to PDI the car but leave the washing off of the transport wax.

Go to detailingworld and decide what to do next and who does it for you.

There is, IMHO, no ammount of money you could pay a dealer that would actually result in a good finnish. Even if the job is farmed out to someone who could (and does) do a good job for you, you are only letting the dealer add a margin for no added value.

Thanks fo the replies, I should have mentioned that the paint protection is not a dealer offer, i was thinking about an independant detailer doing it.

FriendlyFire i have read the finish after the PDI is not always the best- putting it nicely.

I got autoglym life shine thrown in when I bought my new car, I would not have payed for it however after 4 months of ownership I would recommend it to anyone buying a new car. My car comes up great even after a quick wash and dry and flies, tar, sap and all those other nasties that seem to take forever to get off (clay bar job) come off with ease.

That was one of the sites I found when reading into this but it’s good to have a recommendation.

I have gone for platin grey with leather interior, alarm, folding mirrors, heated nozzles and MDI.

I wouldnt recommend it to anyone

What you may not realise..AGLS is just a Paint sealer and very often applied badly

Most sealers and waxes do the same job at a fraction of the price and ....better too

Yes, I hear that a lot from people, but like I said I got it for nothing, it was applied by an autoglym dealer and comes with a lifetime warranty. If it is sh@te then it hasn't cost me anything but at the minute I would totally disagree with you and would recommend it.

Used to work in a well know BMW franchise in Glasgow, there is no care that goes into new cars, them come off wagons, get sprayed with TFR or Fall out remover! Then washed with a dirty sponge that's been used on about 100+ cars, car then taken inside, dried, polished then back out the door.

If your looking to keep your car pristine I'd recommend you collecting the car after the PDi, tell them to do their PDi & not to touch the car, leave all dealer rappers on the outside & inside of the car.

I had a customer who sat outside waiting on his new M3 getting delivered, and watched every thing we done as he requested the car not to be touched, was then loaded onto a covered recovery truck & took away.

I also ordered one today, what did everyone go for? I went fairly basic

TFSI Manual

Race Blue

Maxi dot

Alcantara trim

I had VentureShield fitted to protected from stone chips, well worth it, my front end is still factory fresh.
