How to Reset ecu to standard map from Revo remap

Featured Replies

I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was an easy way to reset the vRS 1.8t back to the standard factory spec ecu map.

Mine has a hand written recipt in the history stateing that it had a stage one remap by Revo at some point.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the car still has the REVO map on it, it can only be reflashed back to std MAP by REVO software. REVO are very good at that.

Need to take it to a REVO dealer or leave it as is...

I think he has strong reasons to give up revo map

Insurance may well be one of them...

Yes, as mentioned. Only a REVO dealer can reinstall the original map due to the protection they apply to the map.

you can switch the map to standard via a sps switch, however the map will still be there though just not completely gone.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Iv'e been thinking about it and eventhough I don't now 100% if the ecu was remapped, like I said I don't have a proper recipt just the words Revo stage one remap written in the service history. If it can be authenticated I would like to keep it.

One of the solutions I am considering is getting a second hand ecu and swopping them over to see if theres any difference.

I know this sounds kind of dull, but if my ecu is remapped it will have cost £300 so may help me to sell the car onlater it in the future.

There is still the insurance dilemma though.

What do you think?

Ps The guy in pontypridd looks promiceing.

Matthew

remap will only lower the price.

modding a car lowers value, not increases.

unless you get the right buyer but then only a stage 1 so nothing to it.

No point getting another ECU as youll need to get the Emmobiliser removed or re coded to your car and it will prob cost.

plus remaps are not all the same, if your happy with wats on there leave it, cheapest option is ask someone who knows how to log with VCDS to go for a drive with you or take it to a RR day.

Thanks Billy

I was thinking RR was probably the only way to find out for sure. The thing goes like a rocket. Its got a carbon CAI on it and thats all, but its the most powerful car I have ever owned even if it is stock setup.

Thank you for the advice about the second hand ECU. That's saved me £85. :)

Behind bnq? Lol

That's him.

Keep the Revo on. You won't believe how slow it'll feel back on a standard map.

Yup its easy to tell if its mapped

When does the power come in?

Mapped cars have the brunt of the power lower down and tails off after 6k rpm

Stock cars are very linier and sluggish low down and pull harder towards the redline
