New VRS colour crisis of confidence!

Featured Replies

I have made the mistake of reading this forum's discussions on the best VRS colour after I have ordered a black magic. I love the colour but read on how hard it is to keep it looking good. It was a choice between black and blue. Is it really that hard and have I done the wrong thing. I only ordered on Monday so there's time to change my mind but any thoughts of those who have black and blue would be helpful. I want the black and red alcantara trim and if I did change colour, I would still want this as I don't like the white trim on standard seats and worry that a blue car and black seats with red trim will look wrong. Aagh! :wall:

BLUE!!

I had a black Mk4 Golf and it was a night mare to keep clean and swirl marks showed up really easily. The Race blue comes up and absolute treat when given abit of attention. I try my best to maintain the paint work on mine but with it been a working car its hard, it had not really been touched for many many miles and last weekend i spent about 2 hours on washing and waxing which just more then a quick wipe around, the colour has such depth to it and has an epic shine, i pity anyone who orders anything else on the vRS! I want mine fully detailed at some point, it will look the dogs dangles!

Metallic green

I had Race Blue, looks the best.

However, if *YOU* want Black - stick with it.

Both IMO are great colours.

If you take your time when washing and use the 2 bucket method with a wash mitt ( Have a read of this http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=4637 ) you will make any car look better for longer. Then just the usual going over with Autoglym Super resin polish and both will be great.

But if you go to hand car washes and automatic car washes then would personally avoid Black as this is where the damage is done.

Blue too common but looks ok. Black far better.

Blue is the best colour then black then silver

White is just asking for people to stop you and ask are you a taxi!

Green.... hmmm least said the better frankly.

Mine is coming with the Black wheels (i tried to get the wheels changed, but couldn't). I only had three colours to choose from; White, Blue and Black.

Blue - doesn't look right with the Black wheels

Black - too dark against the wheels and black interior

White it is, then!

I'd have probably gotten blue if it was available on my model (having said that, the nightfire blue on the superb of the same era is even an better shade!), but black was the best colour option for me. Black on any car is always hard to keep clean, but looks amazing when it is (was gonna go for anthracite grey for ease of cleaning and a nice colour but when I happened to see the two colours next to each other outside a dealer's, it was an absolute no brainer).

More understated than blue anyway.

Mine is black magic, and I do love the colour. But yeah it really is a full time job to keep it looking good.

Dust settles on it, water leaves circles on it, scratches and stone chips and swirls show up so easily.

Would I buy another black one? No

Do I regret buying a black one? Not for one minute lol

You want yellow mate! :-)

Most the vRS taxis I've seen are race blue.

Black = Too hard to keep looking well

Blue.= Paah.. "There goes another one of those skodas"

Wouldn't have any of the two to be honest.

Well I have ordered a new silver vrs and I find silver hides the dust and marks really well, so you don't have to maintain and wash it as often plus I don't see many silver ones where I live.

With black, get it coated with a long life ceramic coating. This will prevent swirls, give the paint a self cleaning coating and they usually last a couple of years.

This is nothing like the lifeshine crap the dealer punts, this stuff is top notch.

It depends what you do with the blue. If you think a colour is just a colour then your narrow minded, iv opted for white wheels and with a full good wax set it next to another race blue vRS it looks completely different.

Any car that just has some soap and water thrown over it once a month is not going to give the colour the best chance to make the most of it.

White; too understated and yes easilt mistaken for a Taxi

Black; everything comes in black

Yellow, Leon you have balls haha :p

Red, now thats also a nice colour (this was my 2nd choice)

Blue, exclusive to the vRS and looks best, if i a £ for everytime i get complimented on the colour..

I would have gotten my new Blackline in blue, but my Focus RS is blue as well. So I opted for white instead of black. I'm happy with my choice, as not many taxi's have black alloys!

What you mean white is too understated :)

I owned a pre-FL in Black Magic and I still say when clean, when fresh from the polish it looks amazing. Better than any other colour out there. However all it takes is just the slightest amount of dirt and it suddenly doesn't look so good. When it came to me getting the FL last year I have the choice to make. White, well everyone seemed to be going for them. Blue, is nice, cannot deny, but didn't want. Personally I went Anthracite and I love the colour. Looks stunning when freshly cleaned and still looks good with a bit of dirt on.

I had seen a blackline anthracite combi today looks stunning on the move! The sunset glass really sets it off with the black rims and red calipers!

Ahhh i forgot about the Anthracite!!!

Awesome colour.

I wanted one in silver.

I personally like the contrast between the silver paint and the black tyres grill mud flaps etc..

Second choice was gleaming black :D

Loads of white ones and loads of blue ones on the roads where I live.

There's was a demonstrator in metallic green knocking about for a while, looked good with black graphics down the side.

The Blackline is only available in white, black and blue.

I have a black and blue Octavia (see my sig).

Both need washing just as often.

Get the colour you want, not one that others will think looks better.

I really want a White vRS. I don't care if the taxi's are all white. None of them have the ability to go to 60 in 7s ;)
