05 VRS engine +Audi A3 2.0T 200BHP

Featured Replies

My mate is a salesman for Audi and last night I test drove his current company car, an 05 A3 2.0T Quattro with 200bhp. More tellingly he said that they've been told that its the lump Skoda are considering for the new model of VRS, (without the quattro!!), but also that a member of the VAG group are looking at the new TT engine, 240bhp - (which he says is very nice thankyou very much), to place in their new model for later this year. Clearly that won't be VW or Seat as their engines ar all accounted for, that leaves.......

As for the A3, it was very responsive in first gear, but that was about it. No adrenalin rush as per the VRS, more staedy acceleration. The ride was not as good as the VRS, way too high up, and was very skittish. Accelerating into and out of bends felt more unnerving than enjoyable and if you hit a pothole/uneven patch of road whilst doing over 50mph you'd better have strong forearms to control the thing, unlike the Octy. The car, in my opinion, doesn't sit comfortably with the power, unlike the old A3 1.8. It wasn't FUN to drive. Another case of Skoda bettering the rest of the group!!!!!

240 would be nice as standard, up there with the Astra vxr

might be the cupra r. bit of debate on that one.
