New turbo

Featured Replies

Haf a new turbo fitted today and boost controller, picked up the car and it's a lot slower than usual, I haven't given it a hard time atall just tried slowly accelerating, and there's no power there, it's boosting but theres a whining sound coming from the turbo, also it goes into limp mode after driving it for a while, but it's fine if you turn off and then back on, also since the grmaragenhave plugged it in after I told them it was down on power the engine management light has come on and won't go off? Any ideas please, also it had a revo generic map about 2-3 months ago

Maybe something conflicting!? Maybe unplug the earth for 40 mins and let the ecu reset itself

Won't that get rid of my map?

No your map wont dissapear, its hard coded to the ECU. Does it boost at all? Does it boost at the usual point? ie around 1500-2000rpm?

D/C the battery will not loose the map.

Ah rite ok, yet it does boost but hell of a lot less than before, it keeps Goong into limp mode aswell once I hit about 70-80 mph

Seems to be going into Lino mode randomly now

Why have you had a boost controller fitted?

You'll need to datalog what the ecu is doing/trying to do. My bet the boost controller is causing issues.

Because I had it put on a rolling road a few months ago and they said it wasn't working properly, so replaced it, turns out at the garage today that the actuater was jammed so try have freed it up now, but the car is bellowing smoke out and knocks when you get to about 2.5k revs?

When you say boost controller, do you mean a manual switch inside the cabin for controlling boost?

As Faboka VRS says, you really need to get some logging done, that doesn't sound good

The little black box, mounted above the drivers side front suspension with all the pipes to it? How do I get the data logging done guys?

Ahh I see, was wondering why you'd fit a boost controller, so it's the "N75" vacuum box thats been replaced. You need to find someone

with VCDS aka Vag-com cable and software. Live logs are captured via the OBDII diagnostics port. Fault codes and logs should provide a good indication of whats actually happening which will assist in resolution of the issue.
