Creaking/knocking from NSF

Featured Replies

I had poly bushes fitted to the console bushes on my Fabia last week.

My mate who fitted them said he had a nightmare getting the old bushes off/out - it looks like the car had been fitted with the updated ones (not Cupra) at some stage.

I did around 150 miles on Sunday with no issues, but as the week has gone on, i've been aware of the odd metallic clunk noise, mostly at slow speeds and when turning right.

It has now gotten so bad I am reluctant to drive the car.

I jacked it up last night and had a look but nothing obvious.

When the load was taken off the NSF the noise stopped (when turning the steering).

The ARB bushes look fine, as do the droplinks.

My mate did say getting the bolt back in for the wishbon front bush was anightmare, and I think this may be the cause of my problems.

It does feel very tight, but I wondered if there was a bit of play possibly in that area which could be causing the issue?

Has anyone ever had problems with the front bush after upgrading the rear ones?

I wondered if the added stiffness of the rear was somehow affecting the front, failing that, maybe removal/refitting has caused an issue.

Any ideas?

I can wait until my mate can have a look but he's mega busy just now so it could be off the road for a while!

Strut top mount ;)

OK, dropped the car off at the local garage and they have said it's front front wishbone bushes!

Going to order a set of powerflex ones, and get some new 18mm bolts at the same time.

My biggest headache is my mate who tends to do most of my work is unable to help for a while, and my next choice guy is also busy.

The garage I took the car to want to replace whole new wishbones with standard front bushes already fitted, but i'd prefer to replace with poly bushes so have to wait until someone can do it.

Car has been off the road for 1.5 weeks now - meaning 4 hour+ commute to Glasgow from where I stay - I need my wee Fabia back on the road :(

They are fairly easy to do mate, I'm the worst at mechanics and still managed to get my wish bone off and change front and back bushes on it :) few tips off some friends and hey presto
