Featured Replies

hi don't know if any one can help

i recently had work done on my fuse board

as the nights are drawing in i have started to use my lights

and i have found my fog lights and rear window heater swich is hot to the touch

i have taken it back to the skoda dealer and been told it could would cost me £300+ to fix and may be the fuse board

i just need some advice on what to do

thanks

If the switches themselves are getting hot, it probably indicates high resistance in the switches themselves (or their contacts), so I'd start by removing and cleaning the contacts.

In the case of the fog light switch, you could also try "not using the fog lights when it's not foggy".

Hi and welcome to Briskoda,

What work did they do to the fuse-board?

Are the switches hot to touch when they are off?

My sidelight switch was always hot in all 3 Felicias I've had long term. If there was high resistance in there, they wouldn't work; the heat is probably from the internal lamp that lights them up, perhaps the wrong wattage lamp in there?

Swapping them is easy enough (if a bit fiddly to get them out), you can get S/H ones cheaply enough. Same goes for the fuse box, although I'd be very surprised if that was the problem. The £300 you've been quoted is a "go away, we're not interested in the job" price.

When I turn the lights on in my felly all the switches get hot. It's just the bulb Inside the switch.

My switches also get pretty warm. I just assumed it was normal - when you see smoke, then you've a problem.

Yeah, smoke never good (unless from tyres). ;)

I have just found (will add it to the spare-parts list) 2 x sidelight switches and 1 x dipped beam switch. As far as I know they work. (I have to admit, have not touched the Felly for sometime, or time enough to feel if the switches get hot - Can say that I burnedout the hazard light flash in the switch the other day whilst towing it)

Also have a fuse-plate too, but would be very interested to know how fiddling with the fuse-plate would make the switches hot.
