Yesterday on the way back from home, had to take a detour due to traffic, went through some back rounds and suddenly had a strong smell o petrol coming in. Didn't think much o it at the time admit thought it was from the outside.

So going to work this morning the same happend again, it's fine when driving above 30mph. Mainly when stationary at traffic lights and going down hill/easing off the gas it's very apparent.

04 plate Fabia vRS on around 150k mileage. Got it booked for the 13th with VAG specialist but would like any insight of any one has herd/had similar issues.

I have had this on a few cars before, it can be anything from the fuel cap not sealing properly, the pipe down to the tank leaking or the tank leaking itself.

Have a quick feel around the tank and see if its wet or your hands smell of petrol

Hopefully you mean diesel, as your car does not run on petrol.

Very Strange as it's a Deisel

Thanks Ill have a look around the tank buddy tomorrow morning and check for any possible drops/mini puddles of fuel.

And yeah very strange, to confirm, defo has a distinct petrol smell.

Smells like its comming from the vents, so might have something odd in the cabin filter, though that's as only changed last month : /
