I've been missing the 1st-2nd gearchange loads lately in my Fabia vRS - think it's because I'm doing the Advanced Driver 'thumb down' thingy. It feels like there's a really long throw from 1st to 2nd - does this annoy anyone else as much as me???

My gearbox is sweet, one of the best things about the car and i like most things.

Have problems with sixth.The rest seem ok though!

Shifting with the palm of your hand on the right hand side of the lever. Was always taught to do this when learning to drive.

The gear change is the best I've ever experienced, apart from the short shift I had on my Mk2 Golf.

No, just your wrist or your elbow at the most.

Try it. Start with your palm on top of the lever, then move it to the right hand side of the lever.

He means effectively pushing from 'behind' the direction the stick's going.

So when going to 5th your hand is bottom left (from above) on the gearstick.

Nope that means doing it properly

And yes, this gearbox really likes to be driven the right way. If you do, it works a treat. If you don't, you may find you don't get the gear you want

I've found absolutely no problems with the gearbox apart from the rattly gearstick :thumbdwn:

I stand corrected, the 'thumb down' technique is pretty good!

It just seemed strange when i was thinking about it sat at my desk, but yeah makes for a nice positive shift from 1st to 2nd.

2nd-3rd but i recon its the Clutch
