Citigo Radio Code and Key/Remote codes

Featured Replies

Could any owner confirm whether these have been provided to you on delivery?

Thanks

No, neither should be as they are security items. You could ask your dealer for the radio code but you shouldn't need it.

Key info is kept on Skodas database, not even we see it.

I've got a sticker with numbers and a barcode on the back of my remote. Is it a code number, or part number?

Thanks Mick

I know Peugeot supply a credit card with a code on it

I didn't even get a bar code with mine.

I've heard you are supposed to get a skc in the form of a 4 or 7 digit number

No as said they don't supply it. There would be very little point in having a security system then publishing the code required to program it. Besides we don't need the code to program anything anyhow.

Do I need to keep the barcode sticker that's on the remote? I'd like to take it off as I think it looks a bit messy but I'm not sure if it's important?

I'd take photo of it. Then peel it off and put it on your handbook

Tech1e...Its alright saying that they should not supply the codes but do citigo retain their radio code if the battery gets disconnected?

Yes the headunit will retain its code if the battery is disconnected.

Also the part number barcode stickers should be removed prior to delivery. There isn't any important data on them that you need.

No you don't need it. They key code for the key blade itself is kept by Skoda. When we order a key it's done to chassis number, we have to provide car details, proof of ownership and proof of identity from the customer to get one.

Our dealer wrote the radio code in the handbook.

Our dealer wrote the radio code in the handbook.

Which defies the whole point as many people leave the handbook in the car.

With modern Skodas the Radio is paired to the car and holds it code if you disconnet the battery.

You only need the code if you detach the unit from the car. ie, if a thief takes it.

If you need it, provide Skoda with ownership proof and the code is provided.

I like the system as it is.

I'm inclined to agree with you -I didn't ask them to, they had already done it prior to delivery. However I think it a little unlikely that someone would break in to a Citigo to steal the factory fit radio, and if they did they probably would have ways of getting the code anyway as it would be someone doing it to order.

I have changed the radio in my Fabia but it still remembers the original radio as well -I found this out as I realised that after fitting the new radio I had left a CD in the old one

I have just chatted online to Skoda for a radio code for my 2014, Citygo only to be informed as follows:

1. On all models if you personally (as owner) disconnect the battery you will need a radio code afterwards!

2. A charge of about £25 will be made by Skoda (or their recommended local retailer) for a radio code!  The only way to avoid the charge is to have the battery replaced by a retailer!

How about that for sharp practice & protectionism?

Can anyone please kindly tell me (& others who wish to know) how to safely change the battery without losing the radio code (unless of course, your supplier has already provided it)?  For example, can one maintain the radio supply safely whilst swapping the battery?

Thanks & regards,

Brian

Changing the battery shouldn’t lose the radio code. If you switch the radio on and then the ignition it should pull the code from the dash cluster.

Thanks, Techie, for your prompt response.  Re your 2nd sentence do you mean do that before disconnecting the battery, or after restoring it, please?

After reconnecting the battery.

Can you please update on the battery change, did you need to input the radio code after changing the battery ? I need to change my battery as the one in the car isn’t holding a charge.

Thanks.
