A few questions

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I made an intoductory post asking these, but I thought this would be a better place for the actual questions. Just got a mk1 vRS that seems to come with 18 inch alloys that look like the original skoda ones, were they ever sold with 18's?

Also, is there a decoder for the options information on the sticker in the service schedule book?

Thanks

They weren't sold with anything bigger than 17s. I would guess if they're not aftermarket they might be Leon Cupra R alloys, R32 alloys or A4 alloys that have had the centre caps replaced with Skoda ones. OEM VAG group alloys have the Audi/VW/SEAT/Skoda symbols stamped on the inside (on the VRS spiders they're stamped on the inside of the spokes)

There is an options decoder somewhere but I think its in one of the general forums rather than Octy I

Got any pics mate and we'll tell you what they are from? Oh and welcome to the forum too.

The mk1's came with 17" as standard or 16" on estates, might be worth posting a picture up to see whats on there.

I seem to remember reading about the codes i'll have a dig around

Found a decoder in the end, a lot of 3 digit codes for telling me its a vRS basically haha.

I took a quick picture earlier before the light went;

Look like audi rs alloy mate. Think they came on the rs3, rs4, and some tt's buddy.

Might be wrong though

+1, look like rs4

Thanks for the replies guys, where is the best place to get some of the standard 17's? Here or ebay I'm guessing?

Problem now is you have to tell your insurer you have aftermarket wheels on,on the plus side looks a nice car :)

Er Snap!!

Defo RS4's mate. Why would you want to get rid of them they really suit the Octi?

Haha yeah they do look alright, I guess I just prefer the originals, the ride is a touch too crashy for my liking too. Hopefully should be able to pick the set up that are on ebay.

Just added it to my policy (I'm with swift cover) No change to my premium whatsoever! Rather happy with that.

That's a result! There nice looking wheel :)

i also have a mk1 vrs on 18's which look to be standard.. its a limited edition model, would this sound right? new to the forum..

If it's a mk 1 the only wheels were either 16 or 17 inch spiders,anything else is aftermarket

by any chance is the car from mansfield? if so i saw that one whilst i was looking for mine theyre nice wheels how come you would like standard wheels ?

Do you have any pics of car

Any idea's? There was no receipt or anything to say that these wheels are aftermarket.. Did the make a Octavia MK1 limited edition? or these badges fake? Thanks guys..

I've never seen them on any car before :-S Centre caps are easily swapped across.

Not sure on those either, they look a bit like saab wheels but they'd be the wrong fitment. I like them. Something from the norm. Car looks good mate. What do the badges on the wings say?

Just picked up some standard 16 inch spiders. Just noticed two other things and a quick question or two. I probably should have researched a bit more before I bought the car but;

Do they come with cruise control? I see a switch on the indicator stalk.

Is the climatronic AC?

The car is drives ok, a touch of a hesitation when accelerating slowly in 1st and 2nd, then when left to idle, the cars revs drop then shoot up (antistall?) then drop again, I didn't let it go all the way, but I feel it would probably stall. I will be taking it to my local independants sometime next week, just wondered what I will be looking at (had a similar issue on my old 330ci which was vanos and a 3k bill)

The rear speaker has blown I think, definitely the tweeter has, is there a direct aftermarket fit for the rear speakers (and the fronts, might as well do them all) and is getting the door cards off an easy job?

Sorry for all the questions guys!

If there's a switch on the indicator stalk you should have cruise control

The climate control is aircon

Revs going up and down may be a dirty throttle body
