vRS = Iditot magnet?

Featured Replies

I don't get this happen at all really

I don't really have it in my Ibiza and that's a lowered, noisy, yellow Cupra with black alloys - total chav-fest really

  • The "cause maximum embarrassment" approach.

  • I think to sum this up there are just some complete and utter cocks on the road no matter what car your in

  • Oh yeah...........In your Skoda Octavia's with 4 rings on the grille......that you paid £3000 extra for.

Despite having a yellow vRS I don't get this as much as I have in past with other cars - my Celica GT4 was a magnet for chavs/TTs/GTis.

I think that's what I originally liked about the vRS, it's sporty-ish looking but also very subtle.

It's most fun in my dad's Merc A Class CDi, don't look and pin it, most things go backwards and NO ONE expects it from an A class :p

The funniest one is when you let them take off a little first off the lights, then you put it into second and leave them standing :p nobody expects it from a skoda with a diesel engine :)

True dat ^ :D

The occasional time that the other car is actually faster really puts a downer on me though :( lol

People can feel free to flame if you like, but one morning on my way to work at 6am there was this base spec 52 plate Audi A4 which came hurtling up to me through a village....me doing bang on 30mph. He was so close I could barely see the bottom edge of his windscreen in the mirror. Leaving the village there is a right hand bend which turns up hill and just on the exit of the corner a section of NSL B road starts and continues uphill for a short distance (enough to overtake someone in if the circumstances are right). So I decide to myself that I shall just drop it down to 3rd gear, right on the start of the torque band, without ever going above 30 mph. I knew he was going to try and pass.....so just as he starts to where the speed limit changes I just mash the accelerator into the carpet.......dry road and the car just left him sitting there now on the wrong side of the road looking silly. Oddly he didn't tailgate for the rest of the journey....but passed me on another section doing probably 80ish while I just made my way to work at the speed limit.

For me it's just the Skoda badge that does it, not necessarily the vRS part. People just hate being overtaken by a Skoda.....I used to see it most on the motorway.

I find it's more just other drivers are idiots to be honest than being car/range (GTi, vRS, VXR etc) specific!

Get it in the Polo (well, did - it's dead now!) and the BMW. TBH, it's more apparent in the 330. Tempted to de-badge it, see if the issue goes away. I doubt it will though! The only car I ever had that tended to go 'unchallenged' was the RX-8, which doesn't really make sense!

About the only car I've driven that did attract idiots was a BMW- only a 120, but everyone wanted to race....

I drive the Fabia equivalent of this and don't have problems. At least not with people who want to race, I still have issues with people who can't see a 1.3 ton lump of yellow metal on the road though...

Same Here, My Octavia is Bright Yellow with working DRL's and Idiots still pull out on you.......

I have this issue quite a lot in my 12 plate Monte, kinda wish I bought the Jag estate the wife wanted me to buy (NOT)

I find taking my foot of the accelerator helps (you can see the panic in their eyes as they realise they are rapidly going into the back of me)

I get this all the time...

There is me driving my VX220 normally and stupid chavs in 1.9TDi's thinking they own race cars and need to proove they own a fast car because it has a skoda badge on it try and race me :/

Poor little blights.

It's actually your chiropractor. Every VX220 comes with complimentary benefits including chiropracty and yoga. :)

No doubt about that!

I used to use the soot treatment, after 2nd blast 99% backoff rate :moon:

I find that as well, way more people just change lanes on the motorway as if I'm not there when I'm in the yellow car than our blando silver Leon. also, how very dare you, Fabia equivalent indeed... :p

I love doing this :p approaching roundabouts and not stopping (obviously when safe) then watching their faces as they try and control the car hehehe

I pulled that trick the other day.. a bend I know very well, with good visibility and lights for entering a dual carriage way.. so the speed limit raises... Thing was, the guy behind me... in his........ Transit!!... obviously didn't know the bend and notably struggled.. Made me think,.. Not my fault if he'd gone into the centre reservation.. but I'd have been the cause due to the very annoying fact that I was a "slow, legal driver" and there for anything I could do he could do easily.... or not.

In hindsight.. it's a dangerous game to play..

I played a similar game Sunday. Ironically I was in the Fabia vRS! He sat in the outside lane all the way down till it goes into one lane, at which point I had already been in that lane for agggess and just went straight past him before it turns into one.

He then thought it would be good to sit on my bumper all the way down into the village.

I approach a set of lights, they start to turn red. I am already past the point of no return, so gently use the throttle to cover more ground (no seriously nothing dangerous or anything, I was doing 30mph!) He decided to brake for the lights, but then changes his mind and begins to follow me in his 1.4 Focus or something, and as he was already behind me and didnt get abit of a move on.... FLASH FLASH.

Unlucky pal. He soon caught me up to no doubt see me and missus actually pi$$ing our selves laughing. Idiot magnet indeed!

I usually get this from mk4 golfs I just use power to weight ratio here foot down and see ya later

It's a lowered, noisy, yellow Fabia chav-fest....sounds pretty similar to me :p

I like to take on all you Skodas :smirk:. Just can't let you kids win ;)

You should head over to the Audi Forum. There is a thread about this.... 'Hunting Skoda Fabia vRS drivers'. :giggle:
