Bulbs.

Featured Replies

I plan to upgrade the headlight bulbs. I have in mind Phillips X-Treme Vision +100%. I seem to recall someone saying that the driving/parking lights looked very yellow by comparison when heads were upgraded. Not sure if it was the same upgraded heads that were in use, but can anyone help with regard to the correct matching Phillips bulb?

Thanks for link. Where I'm kinda lost is what sidelight/daylight driving bulb to order to match the Phillips X-Treme Vision heads, and if I did decide to do something with the fogs as well. Perhaps I will give them a ring.

Try this site, highly recommended white bulbs on Honda Civic Forum from people trying to match the sidelights with the factory HID's. Not checked Citigo type so may need to select different fitment ?

Ordered these yesterday. http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H4-Philips-X-treme-Vision-100-Headlight-Bulbs-pair.html Support assistant felt they should match the colour temperature of the existing driving/parking lights well, and suggested waiting until I install the new ones first. They are a yellow light rather than bright white. I looked at some comparisons of how different bulb temperatures picked out details in the dark before buying and these seemed very good in that respect, as well as claiming to produce twice as much light.

H4 Andy. Yes I spotted that good price on Amazon afterwards. I had been stuck in a grove prior though wanting to establish if I should change the driving/parking lights bulbs as well, and I went to a specialist for that advice in the first place. Next time will shop around more.

Fitted the H4 Philips X-Treme Vision +100% headlight bulbs today. The bulb connectors were very firmly fixed on the original bulbs. They would not pull straight off. Needed quite a bit of waggling to ease them off. No problem fitting new ones.

Tried them out tonight. Very happy with them. As with the original bulbs I have the beams set at the highest setting on the dash rotary control. Nobody at all flashed me on low beams on country roads. I pulled into a dead end road to stand in front and I'm not surprised that I was not flashed as I found it impossible to dazzle myself with the low beams, no matter where I stood, or whether I crouched or not. Notwithstanding that I was very impressed with the light from the low beams. It stretched well into the distance and flooded the coverage area with good light. The cut off was very well defined. The main beams were very strong and again filled in evenly in front and well into the distance. The light seems a little whiter than the originals, or maybe it's just that it is brighter. Even with the original bulbs the side lights are more yellow. This is not an issue at all. In fact the new heads are so bright that it is more difficult to see the sidelights on main beam in particular.

Thanks for the info, Liam.

I do very little night driving, and last night was the first longish journey made with the Philips Extreme Vision +100's, 60 miles or so. I was able to test the high beams on long straight sections of the motorway, when no traffic was coming the other side and was very impressed at how evenly the light was spread and how well it illuminated into the far distance. The dims, on which most of the journey were made were also very good, with plenty of even illumination both to the front and towards the verge, and as said above with a sharp cut off to prevent dazzling oncoming. I have the lights height set at maximum, with two people in the front, and not once since last November has anyone flashed me on dims. Yep...well pleased.
