Colour combinations

Featured Replies

I am currently trying to decide which colours to order. These are some opinions:

  • Black, aluminum alloys, sun-set, ivory. A bit boy-ish, but cool. Not sure about how black alloys will look on a black car! And, how ivory looks with black.
  • Red, black alloys, sun-set, titan (both cool and maybe easier to sell?)
  • Green, aluminum alloys, sun-set, ivory. I saw this combination in the picture thread, looked nice! But some pictures of the green Citigo I have seen have a yellow tint, which does not look very good in my opinion. Not sure if it's the camera though...

What are your opinions? Do you have any pictures of these combinations?

Colour is a very personal thing, but these are my views.

Black - A bit dark and shows dirt very, very easilly so it'll nearly always look dirty. Fit black alloys to make the car invisible and wait for someone to crash into it at night when parked...

Red - Sunset glass and black alloys was my choice. Nice mix of a strong bright colour with contrasting black details.

Green - the Spring Green metaillic looks great with the ivory interior. If I could live with a light coloured interior I would have bought this colour combination. But I can't so I went for a bright colour with a darker contrasting interior.

pics to follow...

Thank you, very good input! I am used to have a car that is very (!) dirt-resistant: the beige Fabia I. I can drive it for months, it still looks clean from a distance, and when I wash it, it only looks cleaner :giggle:

Red is cheaper, so it might be a good combination. I think the black alloys look best together with the red car, and I would also prefer the dark interior in that.

What do you mean by you can't live with a light coloured interior? Will it easily get marks and look dirty?

This Citigo also gets used as a work runaround.

Although I have been running the engine in as once it does work stuff it'll be in town all the time.

I can't be worrying about it geting dirty, so it's got to be dark inside.

It only takes a few dirty fingerprints on the seats and it would bug me.

If I only drove the car myself I would be tempted by the Spring Green/Ivory combo.

But that also means paying over £400 here for the paint, which seems a bit cheeky on a car starting at £7,500.

I agree about Black. I once had a black Fabia vRS and the day after cleaning it it looked dusty and dirty, Then silly me I went and bought a Honda Civic Type R a few years later.....in black ! Same thing always cleaning it and swirl marks on the paint are really visible.

Silver, gold and beige cars show dirt the least. I had a beige Hyundai it never looked dirty.

The green Citigo is a really nice colour, I've seen one in the metal. Would be a good choice..

Red - I've had a red car before and it faded badly the bonnet went pink ! It was a Peugeot 106 though !, I hope Skodas modern red paint is fade free !

It is a personal thing but I would go for white ( like mines I love white cars !, not as bad as black to keep clean but not far off ! ), green or silver if I had the choice.

I would always go for a black interior because I have kids, sticky dirty hands and all that !

Cecolon - Your english is really good ! were you born in Norway ?

I went for candy white with the black Nano interior. I find that white somehow manages to be lively and elegant at the same time...! And you don't have to pay extra for it. From the colors you list, I would probably choose red or green. Small cars often look good with strong colors, I think.

My Fabia in stone grey metallic (it's more blue than grey, actually) also seems to stay clean all the time - amazing. I also had a white Saab 900 that stayed clean - let's hope the Citigo behaves the same :)

I was tempted by the ivory interior, but chose black in the end. I would be too worried about stains. Also, a Skoda dealer told me that only 1 in 80 buyers of new Skodas choose a light colored interior...which could indicate that it will be harder to sell. But if you really want the ivory, that shouldn't put you off!

Interesting stat about the interior colour ! Maybe a lot of families buy Skodas because the cars are such good value for money and they don't want their kids mess up a light interior ?

At least people who choose a light interior will have a more unique car I guess !

That number will probably be different in other countries (and maybe from dealer to dealer, as well), but I think you may be right: most Skodas will be family cars and kids and light interiors don't go very well together...!

Very good inputs, but I now am having an even harder time deciding. That's a good thing - at first I had a few combinations I wasn't really sure about, now I have several that I want :D

Skodaman, thank you! I was born in Norway, and haven't really used English a lot before I started working a few years ago. Now, I have to speak English at work some times, and US English is the written business language. However, I make try to write things like "colour" here on this forum ;)

lol your spellings probably better than mine !

People from Nordic and Scandinavian countries all speak English so well ! You guys pronounce words really accurately ! much better than people from other countries, i've always wanted to know why that is.

Footballers like Jan Molby and Peter Schmeichel even picked up local accents when they played football in England !

I have just been at my local dealer to get a look at the colours (unfortunately, they didn't have green). I think my favourite combination is black and ivory - with standard aluminum alloys (I agree that black alloys too would be too much). However, I like hiking and other outdoor activities, and I will then have to worry about dirt and stains... I suppose one of the greys are most dirt-resistant, but I find them a bit boring. A though decision!

Lol, I just read through this thread again when trying to decide, and found an extra word in the middle of my sentence explaining my English abilities..."Make try" ^^

Well, I've heard that some Norwegian dialects emphasize the same parts of the words as UK English. Our education system is quite poor in my opinion, with focus on getting everyone down to the same level instead of maximizing each pupil's abilities, so I wouldn't give credits to that. However, a lot of American TV shows are popular here, and we don't dub them, and I think that has a big impact. I have learned most of my spoken English by watching TV :) However, I struggle a bit with UK English. I am currently watching Not Going Out, really funny, although I don't understand everything they say.

I wonder how noticeable the red paint fade would be if you decided to remove the stripes in a year or twos time?

Also a concern of mine, but they don't seem to fade like they used to.

Plenty of upto five year old red Skodas running about that look good with no "pinking" of the paint on the bonnet and roof.

I went for red on my order, as I don't like white and £460 for metallic is a joke on a car like the Citigo.

However...

If there was a lighter metallic blue I would have had that in a flash.

I was tempted by the ivory interior, but chose black in the end. I would be too worried about stains. Well, when I bought my last Octavia Elegance, I chose the ivory interior (and wood trim - sad!), but it did look good with the Cappuccino exterior (poor man's Merc!). The lighter colour made the interior feel bigger and more airy. When the sun was out ( ) the seats were cooler to sit on. Also if you have the interior upholstery treated with a Supaguard or similar (I got mine free), they don't stain.

Sensibily, it looks as if the Citigo ivory interior only comes with black carpet. Mine was ivory (I added black mats), but the carpet still got dirty where you put your feet.

Although the car was immaculate when I traded it in, the dealer said that it would have been a bit more sale-able with a dark interior. Of course, the Citigo is not expensive anyway, so I doubt it would have any effect on resale!

These pictures made me go for green+ivory in the last minute! I think it's a really nice combination, I hope it will be a bit more dirt-resistant than black or red, and I will mostly drive it by myself so I can try and keep it clean ;)

Agree Vgnils. Candy White + Nano looks a very classy combo and save kr3500 on metalic paint option. I chose the same. Shame we have to wait so long :(

Nice choice Cecolon... the green was my favourite colour, but I went with the 'safe' option (pingler!). The light interior is the best combination to the green. top choice!
