Skoda Octavia 2 Facelift 2010 - headlights all directions adjustment - how?

Featured Replies

Hello Guys,

My Octy 2 Facelift 2010 has the standard lens headlights (not xenon):

Please, If someone know how to adjust the headlights beam, would you tell me how to do it? If you can supply with pictures - please, do it :) It will be highly appreciated!

My problem is, that the left headlight (the drivers one - I am with left hand wheel) low beam is too low and lights more to the right /the center of the car - horizontally/ than the right beam and I can't see anything from more than 10 meters in front of the car... The right-one is nice.

Can you tell me each nut what exactly controls, because I did a test, but couldn't understand what was changing...

The nuts I see on the headlight are these (the white hex nuts) (on the picture - two in the upper left corner and one in the down right corner) :

How to adjust it horizontally and vertically a bit?

Thank you in advance!!!

Best Regards.

Another thing to check, is to remove the headlight and put it back in again, i notice on mine (pre-fl) that sometimes when changing a bulb and put it back in, it doesn't always sit in correctly and is a little bit off, which may be the issue u have with yours, maybe the back catch is not in correctly

Hm... I will check this, for sure... Thanks!

Also:

While it's off, make sure the bulb is seated correctly. Even in a projector a mis-seated bulb will affect the output alignment.

(Sounds obvious) Make sure the adjustment wheel on the dash is at zero.

When you take the headlight unit out, you'll see two hex-sockets. These are the adjusters.

At night put the car facing a wall about 5 meters.(even surface)

Turn headlights on and either adjuster at rear turn either way just a tad to see if the lowered headlight goes up or down. Since is only a tad you need either one will do, you will basically not notice when driving. The adjusters uses a number 6 alankey, but using your fingers you may be able to turn the adjuster.

Thanks for the answers.

My main problem is the horizontal adjustment... Is it done via these hex-sockets/adjusters or it is done via something inside the headlight? I will test this or tomorrow evening...

Thanks!

Regards,

For the sake of a tenner I would trust the job to an MOT station as they have the lens to ensure the correct adjustment.

Good evening guys :)

I did it. Before a couple of minutes, I was standing against the wall with the car... Everything went fine. But I think, that there is no way to do the horizontal adjustment with these adjusters... I don't know how to do it, but as I see... when I did the vertical adjustment of the low beam (from the picture above - the upper left corner - both white adjusters with the alankey 6 - change the vertical position of the beam, the right down corner of the pic - the adjuster controlls the vertical adjustment of the high beam) everything is just fine now. I did a test in front of the car - there is no way to dazzle the incomming traffic. :) I'm happy.

Thank you all!

Best Regards.
