Dual Mass Flywheel

Featured Replies

Well mine has decided to go on my 2009 Octavia with DSG at 90K. It's booked in at my dads work for a new one. However the techs seam to recon that there will be no need to fit a clutch kit as well with it being a DSG. So they are going to order one and take a look at the one that's in and if its ok then send back the clutch.

Have anyone on here had to replace the clutch in the DSG box yet?

Usually it makes sense to replace the clutch while replacing the flywheel. If the DMF is worn, there's a fair chance the clutch will be too.

Don't forget there's two clutches on the DSG :) - where you're taking it, have they worked on DSG before?

I've not heard about many DSG clutch changes, so wear seems pretty good on them.

Ah I just got what your saying along with a chat with my auld man. The clutch unit is sealed which cannot be inspected. I have been assured it doesn't need a clutch. Only failures yet have been catastrophic on not down to wear on the friction plates. But with it being a taxi I am making sure and putting one in.

That West End in Broxburn??

The clutches are internal and the input shaft into the gearbox is splined into the DMF:

Fantastic link to the 6 speed DSG.

Do you by any chance have a similar one for the 7 speed one as fitted to the Octy

Thanks in anticipation.

No Dunfermline. West End (from Broxburn) just took Chathams over.

If the car is still under warranty do Skoda replace for free ? Mine has 68000 on the clock and is rattling. 2 months left on warranty though.

DMF can be had under warranty, but unless damaged you'll usually have to fork out for the clutch yourself.

Mine is a 2009 with nearly 100k on the clock. My warranty went out the window when I fitted my meter and high liner.

My car went in today a 8am and they haven't even started. They only have 2 techs in just now. Seemingly Skoda say you need 3 persons to drop the box out due to the weight so someone is coming from another dealership to do it/help out

Haven't they got a transmission jack?

Not sure you would think so.
