Demon Shine!

Featured Replies

Does this strip sealant??

I use FK1000P on my cars and everyone tell me how durable it is and there are people on other forums who still have great beading 6 months later. I did my VRS about 4 months ago and had to do it again yesterday.

When I wash I do 2 bucket method etc, but just put a squirt of demon shine on every panel before going over with a drying cloth, I find it softens the water and stops marks.

But for a while I have noticed that water doesn't even head on the car! It should bead pretty well now as I gave it 2 good coats yesterday and it transformed the colour.

Also can anyone recommend me a wheel cleaner? I hear the likes of wonder wheels and bilberry are quite hard on the finish? How is bilberry say diluted 5:1? My wheels are also sealed with fk1000p.

Wonder Wheels is deadly, I wouldn't touch it but

bilberry is acid free so I can't see how it damages finish.

I reckon the 5L probably works out best value wise but you'll

need a decent spraygun.

My alloys look like new still and I've used it in a strong solution

diluted 2 parts water / 1 part bilberry quite a few times since having the wheels refurbed.

My lacquer is undamaged so far. It doesn't strip the tyre gel I use either.

My wheels are waxed with colinite 476 and it doesn't strip that and I get

beading on my wheels still even after using the strong bilberry.

Bilberry sounds good, will order a litre of that to see how I get on with it :) I've got that demon shine in a squinty bottle which I will wash down the drain as its ****e!

No..Demon shine doesnt strip LSP's

Its actually quite good as a QD but imparts its own characteristics to the finish...ie beading v sheeting

Best thing I have used on my wheels is TFR traffic film remover, in its neat form, just spray it on with a squirty thing and then leave for a while, finally wipe with a sponge or a brush and then rinse with water.

I didn't like demon shine, I have been using Lucas Oil, Slick Mist, you can spray it on everything and it leaves a stunning shine, water beads really well and it intensifies the colour of your car, also removes tar spots and other detritus. Just a little on a damp cloth then wipe with a dry cloth.

It's very harsh that stuff.

The problem with this is that its very very strong and leaves your wheels completely inprotected from salt, brake dust etc...

Your wheels could corrode and collect dirt rather than resist and protect them!

I have used it on my last two cars before the Yeti, each car for three years and the wheels looked good when the cars went.

I didn't realise it was a bad thing to do but I do always wear gloves as it has a habit of making your skin fall off. I will watch this thread to see what I should use instead.

Thanks for the info

Depends how often you clean the wheels

What would strip my sealant off then? Demon shine, shampoo and water are the only things that see the cars paintwork.

Its not stripping it off..just changing the beading characteristics

TBH...Demon Shine is more effective on a car without any LSP

You would be far better off getting some QD for top ups between waxing sessions

I don't need to clean my wheels with a wheel cleaner anymore, and regularly the car goes 1-2 months between washes. I coated the wheels in Gtechniq C5 17 months ago and in July they got a top up with C2.

They now just need shampoo to clean off. Every six months or so I give them a spray with ironX too, but that's it.

Cheers

Steve

Mine have a Japanese Ceramic coating...supplied by Magic Detailing.... I applied in March...I just wash them too now as well

IMO Demon Shine is a great product.

Great for use through the winter when it's maybe too cold for anything other than a wash.

I put it in a super spray bottle and apply it via the hose after I've rinsed the soap off.

thats exactly as i use it too, except i use an old jet gloss sprayer bottle, then just use an open ended hose to rinse it down quick blast down the road and thats my winter wash(when its really cold).

And no adverse effect on the brake discs?

I don't use it on the body work anymore. Being up my gloss black wheels though! Winter wash for me consists of a visit to the jet wash every week!

Far to cold up here to be dicking a out washing the car not to mention the jet wash blasts out all the salt from the arches and sills etc :)

And no adverse effect on the brake discs?

Nope.

What sort of effect do you mean?

Nope.

What sort of effect do you mean?

Well, often these cleaners warn against spraying onto the disc and callipers and I wondered if this stuff was safe to do that.

ive never noticed a problem and ive been doing it for about 10 years now!

Can't say I've noticed it effects brakes. I always give the brakes a jab a few times after a wash anyway just cleans up the surface of the disk :)
